Q&A Fashion Look and feel your big-day best with help from the professionals FIND THE ONE I’m not used to seeing myself in a dress, let alone something so grand as a wedding gown! I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed by the prospect of shopping for my dress. Do you have any advice for me? Hanni Frankland from My Funny Valentine Bridal (https://mfvbridal.com) in Chester says: The most important thing to remember is that dress shopping is about having fun! We totally appreciate that for many of our brides, although this is an exciting time, it can also be a daunting process. Choosing the right boutique to visit is key, and therefore research is paramount. Choose somewhere you like the look of and that stocks the dresses you love; also check out the boutique’s customer service reviews – they should be excellent. We’d also recommend finding a bridal boutique that’s by appointment only, as this way you can take your time with your chosen guests and try on a variety of gowns in a lovely, chilled environment. Avoid booking appointments at more than two boutiques though, as often this is when dress shopping can get a little overwhelming as you can become a little dress blind! Once you’ve made your appointment, just try to relax and have fun. Trust your bridal consultant and choose a range of different styles to try on and get a feel for what you like. Try to be open minded, as the worst that can happen is you don’t like the dress and take it off; but who knows, you many fall in love with something you never expected. Trust us when we say, once you try one or two dresses, you’ll relax and likely be surprised by your decisiveness! CHIC CITY SLICKER I’m looking for a fashion-forward dress or outfit for our city wedding. What style would you recommend? Anna Vesty from Unbridled Studio (www.unbridledstudio.co.uk) in Liverpool says: A city wedding is a great opportunity to inject some fashion into your look, and bridal separates are a fabulous way to do this. Our pieces for example are multifunctional and have various styling possibilities meaning they’re relevant long after the big day. Our silk satin Laurie top and Sia pant style together to create the ultimate jumpsuit look with the added versatility of separates; the bridal take on power dressing! Alternatively, a bridal mini is always a winner for a city wedding. Our Lyra minis are effortless, modern and perfect for the hustle and bustle of a city setting. They’re also perfect for teaming with a pair of statement heels. www.withloverosephotography.co.uk 80
