Your Cheshire and Merseyside Wedding - September/October 2020 (Issue 53)

The cake had three tiers: two of white chocolate and raspberry and one of chocolate and salted caramel. The icing was made to resemble bark with our initials carved into it, and was decorated with flowers to match our arrangements and a sugar bird. Our centrepieces were gin bottles holding taper candles, bud vases, and votives with tea lights, all sitting on log slices. We didn’t want anything too imposing, and found these to be simple, yet effective, and in keeping with our theme. The table plan, handmade by Love Lauren Designs, was backed on brown card to complement our favours, invites and table numbers and rustic theme. Harpist Susan Lambert played during the ceremony and throughout the wedding breakfast, setting the mood. She took our requests along with Disney for the kids. She also learnt our wedding dance song, which she played as we signed the register. Our favours were sunflower seeds in rustic kraft paper packets from the mental health charity MIND. We all enjoyed canapes at the drinks reception, which included Yorkshire puddings with horseradish, hoisin duck spring rolls, mushroom arancini balls and a Malibu and watermelon cooler.
