SUMMER LOVIN’ Q What should brides consider with a summery make-up look? Summer is a magical time to get married, but it can also mean heat and sweat, which is a nightmare for your make-up! You’ll want your look to stay fresh from the first look to the last dance, so the summer bride’s make-up mantra has to be “less is more.” Q Any tips for keeping skin looking its best in the warmer months? Hydration is key for great skin – so fill up your water bottle regularly! You could also treat yourself to a new skincare routine in the lead-up to your day. I recommend Wild As The Wind (www.wilddigital.co.uk) for natural skincare and essential oils. Q How can you achieve a summer bridal beauty look? ❤ If you have oily skin, skip the moisturiser and use a matte primer. Foundation should look like your skin, so choose a lightweight liquid or tinted moisturiser alongside a liquid tinted concealer. ❤ Prime the eyes and choose a powder eyeshadow palette – Urban Decay products are my favourite! Choose neutral, subtle tones, preferably in matte textures, and apply waterproof mascara, with gel or liquid liners. ❤ Opt for a matte highlighter, or one that is not too luminous, as the heat will make your face look extra shiny if it’s overdone. Apply a matte powder just once – never reapply! ❤ Choose a lipstick shade that’s in keeping with your make-up, style and theme – one that enhances your natural beauty. ❤ Set everything with a setting spray, such as Urban Decay All Nighter. Finally, carry blotting sheets in your kit to lift away any oil for a shine-free finish without disturbing your make-up. This gives fresh, glowing skin with a pop of colour. Q Any tips for keeping skin looking its best in the warmer months? SPF40 is my best friend all year round, but especially in the summer when we are more exposed to the sun. Using cream products will help create a natural look. I wear a tinted moisturiser instead of foundation, as it has lighter coverage but still evens out the skin tone. Q What’s your favourite product for summer weddings? This is hard as every client is different. However, Hollywood Flawless Filter by Charlotte Tilbury is such a beautiful product that can be used in many ways, from a primer to a highlighter. You can also mix it into your foundation to give a beautifully natural glow to the skin. Setting spray is also a great product for summer; it hydrates the skin and helps make-up to stay in place.
