Your Bristol & Somerset Wedding - February / March 2021 (Issue 81)

We didn’t want anything overstated or too formal for our flowers. Luckily, Sharon at Interiors and Flowers by Design in Wellington understood exactly what we wanted. She came up with a brilliant colour scheme to tie in with the colour of my dress – she even supplied matching flowers for my horse! Our cake from Mandy’s Classic Cakes was a four- tier semi-naked creation in vanilla, lemon, carrot and passionfruit and coconut flavours. Mandy was a little lost for words when we told her our theme was planes and horses, but she came up with a fantastic topper featuring a horse in a wedding dressing flying a Concorde – an aircraft that James’ grandfather helped to design. Our vegan guests enjoyed a lemon chiffon cake from The Planet Plant Cafe. Our centrepieces tied in with our theme perfectly. My sister and mum made wooden planes, which ‘flew’ overhead, alongside polished horseshoes on the tables. We wanted our wedding to take place over a long weekend, with a relaxed party feel; Tone Dale House fitted the bill perfectly and gave us lots of flexibility. Our theme centred around horses and planes to represent our interests, while another key element was supporting local Somerset suppliers wherever possible. 42
