Your Bristol & Somerset Wedding - December 2020/Janaury 2021 (Issue 80)

We ask two of the regions’ top beauty experts for their tips and must-have products this winter Meet Jane Dare of Eye Do Makeup What’s your favourite beauty look for winter weddings? I love creating these looks, when colours are bold and glamorous against a winter backdrop. Rich shades last longer and look fantastic in indoor shots. Opt for lip colours such as deep maroon, berry, wine and crimson. Afraid of a bold lip? Instead, accentuate the eyes with smoky greys or gold with a bold liner and full lashes. A subtle warm peach tone for the cheeks and lips will finish this style perfectly. How can you keep skin looking its best in winter? Start with a fantastic skincare regime to create the perfect canvas. Use an exfoliating scrub weekly, moisturise regularly and drink plenty of water. Prep lips with a scrub or soft toothbrush and plenty of lip balm to stop those bold lip colours looking uneven on the day. When it comes to your base, opt for a cream product rather than a powder, unless your skin is really oily. Add some glow with a radiant highlighter on the upper cheek bone, nose, cupid’s bow and temples, but use powder highlighters sparingly to avoid flash back from the camera. What product is on your Christmas wish-list? Definitely the Stoned Vibes Eyeshadow Palette from Urban Decay. The vegan-formula palette is packed with eight creamy shimmers and four grounded mattes – it’s ideal for winter weddings and party season. My favourite look for winter weddings is fresh, healthy and glowing skin. Although I love natural make-up, I believe that a subtle smokey eye or a classic red lip would look particularly beautiful against a white dress and snowy setting. How can you keep skin looking its best in winter? As soon as winter comes, skin becomes thirstier than any other season, which is why it’s so important to take care of your skin when it’s cold outside. To look gorgeous on your big day, you want to make your skin as plump and moisturised as possible; it will make a big difference when creating a flawless look. It is not only up to the make-up artist to create gorgeous make-up, but also the bride to prepare skin prior to the day. What products can’t you live without in winter? My must-haves for winter are a great moisturiser as well as liquid and cream formula products. As skin becomes drier at this time of year, it’s the perfect way to provide moisture and coverage at the same time. Also, cold air and emotional moments call for waterproof mascaras and liners!
