ROMANCE IN THE COUNTRY Gemma and Alex’s springtime wedding was brimming with pretty rustic touches Images courtesy of Shutter Bliss Photography G emma and Alex would often see each other while walking home from work, but it wasn’t until they stumbled across each other on a dating website that they got chatting. “On our first date I was on crutches after a knee operation,” Gemma says. “Safe to say, I couldn’t run away!” Luckily she couldn’t, as six years later Alex was planning how to pop the question. “The original plan was to do it at Longleat,” Gemma says. “But after I refused to go (we had been a few weeks before!) he decided instead to wrap the ring up and tuck it under the Christmas tree on 27 th December.” After Gemma got over the surprise, they started planning their dream day for 13 th April, 2019, with a church service at St Andrews in Banwell, followed by a reception at Batch Country House.
