Spanning more than 100 acres in the rolling Quantock Hills, the St Audries Park estate boasts an elevated position with fabulous coastal views. The deer park and lake are serene settings, and the immaculate grounds feature neatly striped grass and a manicured croquet lawn. The building provides an impressive backdrop for weddings, with towers, turrets, huge stained-glass windows and its Victorian- style Orangery. Inside, there are endless period features to enjoy in splendid surroundings. LET’S CELEBRATE! All couples have exclusive use of the house and grounds for their special day. Vows are taken in The Orangery (130 guests) before making use of the many grand and elegant reception rooms. The Great Hall’s vaulted ceiling, minstrels’ gallery and roaring log fire make for an impressive welcome. The Drawing Room, with its hand-painted ceiling and wall of windows, is another favourite. For fine dining with a view, couples will love The Banqueting Hall, which overlooks the deer park and rose garden. WE LOVE… Nearlyweds can host an informal gathering the night before the wedding for up to 40 loved ones at Peregrine House. There’s also accommodation for up to 100 people for the wedding night. Hidden within ancient ramparts and protected by a moat, 14 acres of tranquil, Grade II listed gardens await visitors. With herbaceous borders, pretty pools and the scent of roses in the air, there are endless photo opportunities against the backdrop of the cathedral. In 2016, the gardens were awarded RHS Partner Garden status. The palace dates back to the 13 th -century, and the romantic ruins of The Great Hall complement the majesty of the medieval façade and awe-inspiring setting of the gatehouse and moat. The Bishop’s Private Chapel is renowned for its impressive stone tracery and high stained-glass windows. LET’S CELEBRATE! The adjacent town hall is available for the official “I dos.” Parties then head to the venue to celebrate in a choice of spaces, including the medieval Entrance Hall, the vaulted stone Undercroft, the Terrace and the Long Gallery. Guests can also explore the grounds, which are home to the well pools that give the city its name. On the moat are the famous swans, who ring a bell when they want food!
