Meet Bridget Essam of Baked by Bridgett… Please give us an overview of your business… Baked By Bridgett is a newly launched online bakery offering everything from elegant wedding cakes to sweet treats for when you need a sugar rush. For weddings, I offer the ever-popular naked and semi- naked cakes – perfect for those country-fair style celebrations – I also offer cupcakes for dessert tables or even hen dos. My couples have a consultation with me to decide on their perfect cake, or I can post them a taster box for a small fee, which is deducted from the final order. What’s your background and why did you launch your business? I’m a qualified lawyer but I’ve branched out a bit! I've always loved food and baking, and I made my best friend’s wedding cake and celebration cakes for family and friends before I launched Baked By Bridgett. It’s the recent pandemic that has pushed me to fully launch my business. What’s your favourite type of wedding to work on? Every wedding is special and it makes me happy to work in such a positive, uplifting environment. Obviously working with those who love cake as much as I do is a plus! What’s the most common question couples ask you? The most common question is about my range of flavours. I offer plenty of traditional ones, but sometimes I get asked for more unusual flavours. I enjoy this as it’s a fun challenge for me and I like to see couples putting their own stamp on proceedings. When the lockdown started we immediately put a freeze on any new bookings until our current couples had secured the new dates they want.” The beautiful Somerset venue is now ready to meet new couples and get back to what it does best – hosting fabulous big days!
