Expert advice from local pros BOHO-CHIC I’m going for a natural, boho style for my wedding outfit. What beauty look will suit this? Bohemian style represents a carefree attitude, and it’s all about letting your natural beauty shine through. Opt for a pared-back approach to your make-up, allowing you to shout your individual style with statement hair accessories and jewellery. ❤ Skin . A flawless complexion is paramount, so make sure you have a good skincare routine in place. On the day, prime your skin and eyelids, and opt for a dewy foundation like bareMinerals or a BB cream instead of a heavy matte product. Dab on cream or liquid highlighter under the eyes and finish with a translucent powder. Apply warm bronzer where the sun naturally hits and cascade down the sides of the nose. Gently blend in a pale pink or peachy blush to the apples of the cheeks and use a highlighter for that warm summer glow. ❤ Eyes . Use natural tones including browns, tans, oranges, mauves, pinks and rose gold. I love the Urban Decay eyeshadow palettes in Naked Heat or Naked 3. Add your chosen colour below the lower lash line too, blending and softening for a romantic look. Apply a matte brown eyeliner pencil, keeping the line soft and slightly smudged. Follow with waterproof mascara and strip lashes to make the eyes pop. ❤ Lips. Choose a soft pink, beige or peach-toned liner and lipstick in a creamy or glossy finish. If you’re feeling adventurous, add some glitter to the centre of the lip. Finish your look with a setting spray and be sure to pack what you need in your bag for touch-ups. You’ll want to get in a good haircare routine before the day, and then I’d recommend washing your hair the evening before your wedding. Concentrate on really conditioning the ends of the hair rather than the roots. Sometimes very clean hair can drop quicker so it’s best to avoid washing your hair on the morning. I would set your locks in large heated rollers, which will fix the style and encourage it to stay put all day. I’d then use my favourite anti-humidity products to ensure the look has staying power. I always send my brides on their way with a care pack for the day, which includes a mini hairspray and pins if needed. Can I still get this look? When working with a professional, anything is possible. I always recommend having a trial and I can create the look you desire. I believe honesty is the best policy, so if I think your hair would also look great in a different style, then I’ll advise you on this. With messy looks, it’s easy to give texture to the hair before we put it into an up do. Extra hair can be added too, if you’re open to this. If you’d prefer to just use your own hair, then that isn’t a problem, but depending on the length of your locks your up do may need to change position. The key with finding your perfect style is to have a trial, be open-minded and put your trust in your stylist. Check out their previous work to see if they’ve created similar hairstyles to what you want; this will make you feel more at ease.
