Your Bristol & Somerset Wedding - April/May 2020 (Issue 76)

REAL WEDDINGS 41  I’ve always been a jumper-and-jeans girl, so dress shopping was a scary prospect! I desperately wanted a boho style but was worried I wouldn’t like anything because of my bust. After trying on lots of A-line styles, Becky at Lace & Grace Bridal Boutique pulled out the most incredible fit-and-flare lace gown – it was the one ! Matt had a forest green suit from Moss Bros that he could customise with a choice of linings, buttons and lapels; he even had our wedding date embroidered on the inside. It looked amazing with his grandad’s 100-year-old pocket watch. Matt had lots of groomsmen so we hired them all navy suits with green ties. Matt was up at 6am hammering in direction signs, so this kept him distracted. Once he was at the church his nerves crept up on him unexpectedly. I had a lovely morning with my girls and my mum. It flew by and before we knew it we were leaving for the ceremony. When we saw all our guests who had travelled from far and wide to be there, it was so heart-warming. We arranged to arrive at the venue ten minutes before our friends and family. This gave us time to stroll around and take in all the details we had spent so long putting together; it was overwhelming and something we’ll never forget. “ Lynne’s top tip: After the big day, I used a website called Sell My Wedding to pass on our homemade items to others who wanted the same aesthetic. It’s a great way to recycle items and see them being used again. “
