Your Bristol & Somerset Wedding - Oct/Nov 2019 (Issue 73)

instagram.com/emerald_weddings PLANNED TO PERFECTION We’re so busy that it’s hard to find time for wed-min. My friend suggested hiring a wedding planner, but I’m worried about handing over control – should I bite the bullet? Even if you have plenty of thoughts and ideas, you may not always have the knowledge, time or motivation to realise them. Sharing your vision with a planner doesn’t mean you hand over the reins – see it instead as adding a professional member to your team. They’ll work with you towards the same goal: making your wedding incredible. Most planners can help you with all or parts of the process, depending on your requirements. You can turn to a planner to assist you in sourcing venues, liaising with suppliers, putting together palettes and moodboards and for help with budgets and paperwork, such as timelines and run sheets. During all stages, you’ll have support and receive advice to help you avoid mistakes and save money. I also offer on-the-day coordination, which is an excellent service if you’ve managed all the preparations yourself but want someone to make sure the day runs smoothly, leaving you to relax and enjoy every minute of your special day. Find an expert you feel comfortable with who listens to you and understands both your hopes and worries for the day, and they’ll be a great asset. Autumn is such a beautiful time. For me, this season is all about colour. Alongside fiery oranges and deep reds, I’d urge you to consider mixing in delicate faded tones of lavender and brown to give a richer palette and a more elegant feel to your designs. There are so many cut flowers to choose from at this time. Dahlias are a wonderful choice, especially varieties in dark burgundy hues such as Chocolate Karma. I always make use of the glorious seasonal foliage that’s available in this season to add beautiful browns and reds to arrangements – cotinus and oak are perfect choices. Another tip to really take advantage of what the season has to offer is to add seedheads and berries to your flowers. I love including scabious and nigella seedheads, along with rosehips, to add delicate extra details and an autumnal vibe. Megan Troughton | Megan Lily Floral Design meganlilyfloraldesign.co.uk 104
