MAKING WAVES With stunning views across the harbour, Riggers’ Yard at Brunel’s SS Great Britain offers a new outdoor wedding location right by the water’s edge. Launched in September 2019, couples can now exchange vows al fresco, under floral arches and festoon lighting, while guests take in the spectacular vistas. “Our new setting has arguably some of the best views in the city,” says venue hire sales manager Lynsey McKinstry. “You can see right across the harbour to rows of colourful houses in the distance. Riggers’ Yard will appeal to those looking for a quirky yet affordable outdoor space with a rustic vibe.” Why not make the day even more memorable with a boat trip before returning for an evening of celebrations aboard the ship? After spending two decades lovingly restoring the venue to its former glory, the brick dust settled and Chris finally laid eyes on Heather – the girl next door – who owns the farm that used to be part of the Orchardleigh Estate and is now a successful equestrian centre. “On paper, there’s certainly a fairytale ring to it: me owning the estate that Heather was born on” Chris says. “Really it’s more of a modern story. Heather had a career in banking before embarking on equestrian endeavours. It appears we were both too busy to spot what was under our noses!” The couple hosted a glamorous affair with 150 friends and family at Orchardleigh House. Find out more at orchardleigh.net A girl’s best friend As the old wives’ tale goes, the best way to clean your diamonds is in gin. But we think it’s better to drink gin while admiring your prized jewels! In September, two well-loved independent companies, Wylde Jewellers and the Bath Distillery, launched a competition to give you the chance to do just that. The two local companies decided to mount a one-carat Wylde Flower Diamond® – an exclusive stone cut by Nicholas Wylde with petal-like facets – in a single-edition one-litre bottle of Bath Distillery Classic Gin. It’s the perfect setting to highlight both the beauty of the diamond and the crystal-clear purity of the gin. Running until 31 st January, 2020, entrants must buy a 70cl bottle of Bath Gin to see whether they find a lucky ticket in the cap. Bottles are available at thebathgincompany.co.uk or you can find your nearest stockist at nicholaswylde.com/gin Culminating in a sparkling reception at the Bath Distillery Canary Gin Bar for the winner, why not stock up on a few bottles for your big day? You could put some sparkle in your life with a £10K diamond. bristolcontemporaryphotography.com 10
