The beautiful wisteria-clad Castle Hotel has origins dating back more than 1,000 years, making it one of Britain’s most historic hotels. Tucked away in the grounds is the tranquil Norman rose garden, a gorgeous space for arrival drinks. Within the venue are large tapestries, dark wood and a sweeping staircase, evoking its long history. LET’S CELEBRATE! Ceremonies for a congregation of 100 people take place in the grandeur of The Great Hall. There’s also a church in Crowcombe village, which will conduct ceremonies for couples outside of the parish when possible. After the formalities, bespoke wedding breakfasts can take place for 50 invitees in the Great Hall or for 100 guests in the Ballroom. For larger gatherings, a marquee can be erected on the croquet lawn. When it’s time to dance the night away, everyone can head to the vaulted undercroft, which has a stage, dancefloor and bar. Couples have the opportunity to hold their wedding just the way they want to and will benefit from exclusive use. The hire includes the use of two principal bedrooms, and there are six further king-size rooms available to book. LET’S CELEBRATE! Ceremonies can take place in one of four rooms, with the biggest accommodating up to 100 people. The Music Room, the largest space, has high ceilings and plenty of natural light. The Garden Room provides romantic flair and overlooks the moat wall, while the Wisteria Room offers a smaller alternative for 50 guests. The most intimate setting is the elegant Penthouse. With its stunning vistas from a French courtyard-inspired roof terrace, it’s one of Taunton’s best-kept secrets. The evening reception usually takes place in the Music Room, with a disco, dancefloor, casual seating and buffet catering for up to 100 people. Other spaces are available for smaller parties. Run by the Chapman family for more than 65 years, the venue prides itself on exceptional service and fabulous food.
