REAL WEDDINGS 41  Claire and Pete’s festive-themed celebration included plenty of seasonal details Images courtesy of Marcus Charter Wedding Photography Claire Burton, 35, married Peter (known as Pete) Gardner, 34, on 30 th November 2019 at Bucks County Museum followed by a reception at Waddesdon Hall. Last C laire and Pete met just as each of them was ready to give up on the world of online dating. “Without knowing it, we both agreed to our date with the thought of giving it one last go, and if it didn’t go well, we would forget the swiping left and right for a while!” Claire tells us. “Luckily, after matching on Tinder, we met up and instantly felt relaxed in each other’s company so quickly arranged a second date! Within a few weeks, we both knew that we had found something special. He was a kind, generous and genuine person and he liked the fact that I had a passion for my job, loved superheroes, and am funny!” The couple became engaged on Christmas day. “The proposal was a few months in the making,” Claire says. “Pete had recently started to learn to play the piano, rehearsing one of my favourite songs to sing, Stand By Me by Ben E. King. On Christmas morning, he gathered our close friends and my mum at our house and announced that we would be performing it to them! Afterwards, he got down on one knee, produced a ring and asked me to stand by him forever! I said ‘yes’ of course! Christmas is my favourite time of year, so he knew that it would be a perfect time to propose.” Here, Claire tells us about their festive day. CHR I STMAS
