Your Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wedding - August/September 2020 (Issue 84)

36 Following the picnic feast, we got everyone up on their feet to dance the Ceilidh, a fun and traditional dance. Steph’s sister arranged for her band called Head Over Reels to provide the tunes while she led the dance and it was a great way for our guests on both sides of the family to get to know each other. Because of the summer heatwave, we got to dance away the afternoon barefoot (and sweaty!) on the grass outside the tipis while the sun was gradually setting over the valley. The live rock ‘n’ roll band called Keiko Rise, managed by Steph’s sister, saw out the night in style, playing all the dancefloor classics from The Killers and Kings of Leon to Michael Jackson. They made sure the night went out with a bang and lead singer AJ’s energy was unbelievable both on and off stage – he even flew from Greece just to play for us! Never one to be seen in a dress, I (Katie) opted for a summery, informal outfit of tan chinos, a white shirt, an amazing woodland-themed waistcoat and a tweed jacket. My buttonhole was created using a pine cone and paired with a peach bow tie. I (Steph) wore the Deirdre bridal gown by designer Maggie Sottero which was a lace and chiffon dress with a gold underlay and a V-shaped back. It oozed the elegant, floaty, boho-chic style that I was looking for and was perfect for dancing in! I also wore a bespoke flower crown handmade with dried meadow flowers, white lace and diamanté peep-toe heels and carried a bridal bouquet of gypsophila. I styled my hair myself into a loose look and used a local make-up artist specialising in vegan products. We didn’t want to dictate a particular style or colour, preferring them to wear something they felt comfortable in. Our two groomsmen wore chinos, white shirts and braces, and each had a peach bow tie and pine cone buttonhole. Our two pageboys were our nephews who rocked the same look with chino shorts which were a hit in the heatwave!
