Your Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wedding - June/July 2020 (Issue 83)

SHOE-STOPPING I’m wearing a tea-length wedding dress which will show off my wedding shoes; I would love them to have the wow-factor, what do you suggest? A Mary Jane shoe, which typically has a strap and buckle, would go perfectly with this style of dress. They not only look amazing but the block heel makes them great for every kind of surface, such as grass and cobbles and the pretty strap means you can confidently dance the night away with no fear of them slipping off and flying across the dancefloor!  As for added wow factor, why not consider having them dyed to match your bridesmaid dresses? This works equally well for vibrant, bold colours as well as pastel colours. But if you want something that will really turn heads as you walk down the aisle, choose a floral pair or better still have them hand-painted to coordinate with your wedding bouquet! This pair I hand-painted with stunning bright yellow sunflowers and little daisies – perfect for a summer wedding. The right eyebrow shape can take years off your age and also change the way your face looks. Eyebrows aren’t one size fits all, so every set I do is different. Choosing the right style of brow depends on multiple things, face shape, how deep set your eyes are and of course personal preference.  Siobhan Bower SB Brows | www.facebook.com/SBbrowsandbeauty LAY THE RIGHT FOUNDATIONS For years I have just been buying ‘natural beige’ foundation, but I think it’s all wrong for my complexion. How do you know what tone is right for you? The best way to choose the perfect foundation for your skin tone is to test three swatches on your jawline. Choose three shades that are similar but all the same undertone, one medium, one slightly lighter and one slightly darker. The shade that you can’t see on your skin is the right shade. Foundations come in several base tones, peach/orange, beige/ neutral, yellow and pink/red. Knowing your undertone will help you to best match your skin tone. A quick look at your veins will help, this is just a rule of thumb. Blue veins are usually cooler skin tones so go for pinks and yellows. Green veins are warmer tones so yellows, peaches, oranges and reds usually work best. Blue and green veins are more neutral so opt for neutral and beige foundation shades.  Once you’ve chosen the shade wear it on your skin for at least an hour. The foundation that doesn’t oxidise or change colour on your skin is the right shade for you.
