Your Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wedding - June/July 2020 (Issue 83)

IT TAKES FIVE Reading make-up artist Joyce Connor reveals her top five steps to creating a great skincare routine during lockdown: ❤ CLEANSING YOUR FACE If you don’t normally wash your face now is the perfect time to get into the habit of facial washing. Washing your hands for 20 seconds has become the norm. You should wash your face with a foaming cleanser for a minimum of 60 seconds. Cleanse from your forehead down to your décolleté and rinse thoroughly with tepid water. ❤ HYDRATING YOUR SKIN Staying at home and indoors can make your skin feel dehydrated and tight. Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Add a facial spritz to your skin every few hours under your moisturiser and over your make up. ❤ FACE MASK Use a face mask weekly. Stress and tiredness can deplete your skin’s nutrients. Using a face mask weekly will give your skin a boost and hydrate, plump and nourish your skin’s appearance. Applying your mask at night after cleansing will be the most beneficial for your skin. ❤ SUNSCREEN Wear a sunscreen daily even if you’re not going outside. Did you know that daylight is UVA rays that age the skin and you can still get sunburnt if you’re working from home in front of the window. ❤ DE STRESS YOUR FACE If you’re suffering from breakouts during lockdown try to avoid touching your face. Make sure you wash your hands before you start your cleansing routine. Use calming products and gentle movements on your face. The less is more rule applies when your skin is reacting. Less product, less touching and less pressure. Treat your skin gently and in time your skin will be back to normal. However, like with many wedding venues, it has been faced with challenges due to the pandemic, and here director Kim Pybus tells us how they’ve had to adapt. “The Mill House Hotel is family run and has been hosting weddings since 1994. As owners we are very much involved in the day to day running of the Mill House with our excellent team. “With the current pandemic we have had to think on our feet fast, as we had a whole years’ worth of weddings to consider. In mid-March we could see that COVID-19 was going to make a huge difference to our couples. The team quickly contacted those couples having a spring wedding to change their date to later in the summer or to 2021. Our couples were so grateful that this was an option for them and settled on new dates. “We’ve also been faced with the challenge of new enquiries coming in so have made a video show-round so that couples can see the venue and continue to plan their special day. “There is no doubt that it is a challenging time, however, we have a great team who have all risen to the challenge. It certainly does take a team to make the dream.” Check out www.themillhousehotel.co.uk 10
