Your Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wedding - April/May 2020 (Issue 82)

We drove in Howard’s dad’s vintage Jaguar, it was lovely to have a convoy of vintage vehicles which certainly turned lots of heads! It was important to us that as guests arrived at our reception, they were greeted with real wow factor as they walked into the barn, with warm, colourful textures and flowers hanging from the beams. In order to ensure a seamless day, we hired two vintage double-decker buses from the Big Red Bus Company. The buses picked all our guests up from their hotels and took them to the church and then onto the reception – guests loved being transported around all together. Sonning Flowers did not disappoint and created the most beautiful space with high and low table arrangements, flower rings which hung from the beams and archways which were all in keeping with our theme. Every corner you turned there was a different arrangement of flowers in our wedding style and they all looked exquisite. We wanted a rustic venue that we could decorate as we wished. North Hidden Barn was a venue I had previously attended and as soon as we visited, we knew it was the venue for us – a secret gem in the Hungerford countryside! We quickly enlisted the help of Sonning Flowers, a florist in Reading that we have always used and loved. I’ve always had an obsession with flowers and knew they would be a big part of our day. Our table plan was very us and involved a large world map which asked “Where in the World are you sitting?”. Guests were then seated on 11 of our favourite places we have visited. 30
