Your Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wedding - Feb/Mar 2020 (Issue 81)

We chat to local businesses about their big-day transport wedding offering ▶ A DR I V E TO R EMEMB E R C hoosing wedding day transport is particularly important but perhaps a last-minute decision for many, here at County Wedding Magazines we’re telling you to think again. It’s an integral part to the day ‘how are we getting to the wedding?’ if you don’t get there, there won’t be a wedding! So, choosing your wedding wheels should be high on the priority list, but where do you start? First and foremost, create a checklist of what’s important to you is it style, size, distance, colour? Also bear in mind things like: does the company offer any extra services, do they have insurance, what happens in the event of a breakdown what’s plan B? After all the specifics, you can enjoy choosing your big-day transport, are you going to turn up in a vintage classic reminiscent of Downtown Abbey , or perhaps rock up in a limo like a Hollywood movie star! We chat to some local providers to give you some inspiration.... The company can cover a large area from its base in Milton Keynes and only ever carry out one wedding per car in any day, as a wedding is far too important to race around! Specialising in providing 1920s and 1930s vintage cars for weddings, the company’s genuine vintage fleet is fitted with modern heaters for the colder months so brides need not worry! Ray Cope of Wedding-Car .co.uk, adds, “If the wedding is at a single venue we will wait until after the ceremony and take the happy couple for a drive around, this gives them some time out together and often we can incorporate this with stopping somewhere to meet the couple’s photographer to take some special pictures together.” Couples need not worry about the rest of the bridal party either because, it the ceremony venue is within reach to match with the timings of the day, Wedding- Car .co.uk is able to take bridesmaids first, then return for the bride, “We never charge additional for this service as none of us here at Wedding-Car .co.uk  need much encouragement to drive any of the vintage vehicles,” says Ray. WEDDING-CAR.CO.UK THE CARS... “We started like many companies off the back of a hobby; in this case the hobby of restoring and owning rare vintage and classic cars, our first car we used for a wedding was purchased in 2006, which we still have on our fleet,” shares Ray. “We have some very rare cars, including four right hand drive English built Citroens (built in Slough, Buckinghamshire), we have three from the 1920s and one from the 1930s . “We have a beautiful 1937 Rolls Royce limousine with six passenger seats − this car took us two years to restore, and the car’s first wedding with us was as the bridal car for our daughter’s wedding in December 2016. This is our most popular car and is an absolute pleasure to drive too − it also provides for a great entrance and backdrop for the happy couple on their wedding day. “For the groom (or bride), we have another very rare classic car called a Triumph Roadster (1949). If you were around in the 1980s you would have seen one of these fine vehicles driving Sergeant Bergerac around in the TV series Bergerac based on the island of Jersey. We can now arrange for this car to be self driven by the happy couple if they want to make a grand exit from the ceremony and drive off into the sunset together − great if their wedding is being videoed! “We have a modern-classic Jaguar too – it is not quite modern and not quite a classic – whilst our cars are predominantly chauffeur driven, this car could also be driven by the happy couple if they so desired. Using genuine vintage cars you get outstanding reliability (as they are far less complex than a modern car), extreme comfort with masses of leg room, easy entry and exit through the large doors a fantastic grand entrance and prior to arriving at the ceremony there is the attention received from passers by and other motorists all waving and wishing the happy couple well.
