Charlie and Will met whilst skiing in Val d’Isère in 2021. “We met in a bar on my first day and arranged a ski date the following day,” Charlie tells us. “We lived in different parts of the UK, and Will was serving in the Army and relocated to Cyprus within our first year together, but we made the distance work.” Will proposed during an Easter glamping trip to Clovelly in Devon. “He asked me to marry him at a small, clifftop viewpoint looking out to sea,” Charlie tells us. The couple viewed various venues and ultimately agreed to get married in Cookham, Berkshire, where Charlie had grown up. “ We wanted a tipi marquee for our reception so that our special day could be bespoke,” Charlie says. The couple wanted a military element to their day mixed with a relaxed ambience. “We had a formal ceremony in the local church where I had been christened,” Charlie tells us. “Will and his colleagues dressed in their No 1 Dress uniform, and we had the traditional guard of honour as we exited the church.” For their tipi reception in a field, Charlie and Will had a pretty English Garden, bohemian, and festival theme. Their chosen colours were shades of yellow, green, blue and pink. “My sister is an artist and helped to create our wedding stationery and big-day styling,” Charlie tells us. “We wanted to use local suppliers so our flowers were sourced from Marlston Farmgirl and styled by The White Horse Flower Company, who helped to bring our vision to life, everything looked great.” The couple chose The Merry Kitchen for their wedding catering. “Jo is fantastic, and her amazing 28
