Your Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wedding - August/September 2025 (Issue 114)

RINGS AND THINGS Now is a good time to purchase those final finishing touches, from the all-important wedding bands to the bridal and bridal party jewellery, shoes, veil (if you’re wearing one) and even perfume. Top tip: If you’re planning on gifting your new wife or hubby-to-be a special something on the morning of the wedding, like a watch or a pair of cufflinks, then now’s the time to buy them. LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL Nothing creates a great party atmosphere that your guests will talk about long after the confetti has settled like fantastic wedding entertainment, whether it’s a live band, a DJ or a tribute act. List the songs you want to hear and give them to your entertainers when you book them. Ask your guests to RSVP with their favourite songs and include these choices – it will guarantee a packed dancefloor! Top tip: Don’t forget about big-day entertainment during the speeches, such as a magician or caricaturist PRETTY WOMAN If you’re not doing your hair and make-up then researching and booking your stylist(s) now is advisable. If you’re not using your regular hairdresser and trusting somebody new then a trial is a must. Top tip: If you’re having your hair coloured before the big day, leave time for it to settle. The same applies to any bridal beauty treatments such as waxing and facials. OH WHAT FUN THEY ARE TO RIDE Getting to the church (or venue) on time couldn’t be easier or more fun. If a retro-inspired car is your thing then book a Morris Minor or a VW Campervan. You might want to arrive by boat (if your venue is near water) and for a more sustainable option, consider a bicycle or even a walking parade with your guests. Or, in the words of Frank Sinatra, “love and marriage go together like a horse and carriage.” 60
