As we mentioned above, Hester Gaylard won the Best Sport & Fitness Instructor at the 2025 Muddy Stilettos Awards. We caught up with her to ask about her fitness plans for brides and grooms-to-be. She tells us, “When I was planning my wedding last year, I had the same thought as so many couples do - how can we feel our best both physically and mentally on the big day and during our honeymoon? As a personal trainer, I knew that quick fixes weren’t the answer. What we needed was a way to keep our energy high, reduce stress, and feel confident without adding any more pressure to an already busy time. Here’s what I focused on, and what I would recommend to other couples getting ‘wedding-ready’ to do: 1. Find a routine you’ll stick to The best kind of exercise is the kind you’ll come back to especially when life gets hectic. Whether it’s walking, strength training, yoga, cycling, or pilates, the key is consistency. My husband and I enjoy walking together which was a nice way to stay active together whilst catching up on some wedding planning away from the computer. We did strength workouts separately in our own time. It helps if you are both trying to do your best to support each other’s routines and keep one another motivated. Doing it together will make the journey feel less about physical change and more about showing up for each other. Start as you mean to go on! 2. Prioritise recovery just as much as training In the months leading up to our wedding, I made sleep and rest a real priority. Lack of sleep increases cortisol (the stress hormone), which can affect mood, digestion, and even fitness results, ultimately hindering efforts. Getting seven to eight hours of sleep most nights, plus making space for downtime, whether that be walks or phone-free evenings helped me feel more balanced and to be the best version of myself. 3. Eat to fuel, not restrict When it comes to nutrition, focus on meals that give you steady energy and support your body: think plenty of protein, colourful vegetables, healthy fats, and space for the things you enjoy, like dinners out or dessert. Restrictive diets can add stress and are rarely sustainable. Eating well consistently doesn’t just help with energy levels, it can also support clearer skin, a more balanced mood, and better sleep. Feeling good on the outside does start from within, and your diet plays a big role in that. 4. Spend time outside Get out in nature, whether it’s a walk through the fields or an outdoor workout. Time in green spaces has been shown to lower cortisol, improve mood, and even enhance immune function. Especially during stressful weeks, even 30 minutes outside makes a big difference. 5. Feel wedding-ready To me, being wedding-ready means feeling calm, strong, and connected to yourself and your partner. Improving fitness can be part of that but try not to add more pressure and exercise in a way that feels good! Ultimately by keeping calm and sticking to a routine, you will be feeling great and energised in time for your big day. www.hestersfitnesstraining.com www.instagram.com/hesters_fitnessandlifestyle WHAT THE FUDGE! Yellow gold, a timeless classic, is making a comeback, offering warmth, sophistication, and an enduring appeal. This masterpiece from Lover’s Rock in Oxfordshire showcases the seamless harmony between two exquisite diamond cuts - the pear cut and round cut. The pear cut, with its distinctive teardrop silhouette, embodies grace and fluidity, catching light at every angle. The round cut, celebrated for its brilliance and fire, complements the pear cut’s elegance with a radiant sparkle. Together, they strike a balance between tradition and contemporary artistry. Whether chosen as a wedding band or a statement piece, this decorative diamond-set ring is more than just jewellery - it’s an expression of individuality, luxury, and romance. As modern couples seek designs that transcend convention, this trend reaffirms that a wedding ring isn’t just a symbol of love - it’s a showcase of personal style, sentiment, and eternal brilliance. https://loversrockdiamonds.co.uk www.instagram.com/lovers_rock_diamonds 45 HANDMADE
