COLOUR POP What are the best summer colours for bridesmaids’ dresses? For a traditional wedding, we recommend choosing soft, blush shades, such as geranium pink and rosewood or soft lilac for cooler tones. The natural world is in full bloom in summer, and keeping your palette soft will complement that rather than compete for attention. For something more unusual, you might consider a light sage green; it looks incredible against peach, tangerine, warm red and yellow. This is one to consider if your flowers are warm and bright. How can brides choose the right tones for their make-up in the summer? A natural, dewy finish for make-up is very popular and gives a healthy glow; this can be achieved using a touch of illuminator, which comes in cool or warm tones. A colour analysis session will help identify your tones, and the right colours will look natural and enhance your skin tone. If in doubt, choose a true red lipstick, which is neither warm or cool. Consider neutral grey for the eyes and a soft pink blusher, which will tone well with most dress colours. It would have to be a style that can hold up to the heat of a summer’s day, while also looking soft and pretty. I love creating glamorous up styles, but with softness around the face. How can you keep hair looking its best during summer? There’s a variety of products to keep your locks looking fabulous in the summer, and my go-to product is a serum. Choose a lightweight one if you have fine hair or a heavier option for thicker hair. L’Oréal do a great range for all hair types. A good shampoo and conditioner is also a must. This doesn’t have to be bought from a salon, but definitely look for products that suit your hair type. What’s your favourite hair product for summer? I love a beautifully fragranced finishing shine mist. You don’t want to smell of hairspray and it’ll certainly make you shimmer down the aisle. Anna Rose-Porter | The Wedding Hair Boutique | www.weddinghairboutique.co.uk SUMMER LOVIN’ What’s your favourite bridal beauty look for summer? I love a glowing, sun-kissed look in the summertime. Think dewy foundation to give fresh, healthy-looking skin, with bronzed peachy lips and cheeks and finished with a wash of shimmery bronze or rose gold on the eyes to make them pop. I call it a peachy beachy bronzed look! How can you keep skin looking its best during summer? There are two key ways to keep your skin in its prime and looking vibrant in summer. The first is SPF50 – it’s a must! This needs to become part of your daily routine to protect your skin and prevent ageing and pigmentation. Hydration is the second element to keep that smooth, plump, glowing complexion. Drink lots of water and use hydrating skincare products. What’s your favourite beauty product for summer weddings? For summer brides, I can’t get enough of setting sprays. They make your beauty look last all day, they’re sweat-proof in the heat and give a dewy finish.
