BRIDAL BOUTIQUES 71 Describe your boutique and service in five words… Quality, friendly, professional, special and experienced. What designers do you stock? Leading designers such as Mark Lesley, Sincerity, Emma Bridals, Eternity Bridal, Sonsie and Dessy bridesmaids. How did you come to launch your business? Bird’s Bridal is an award-winning bridal boutique, which was established 30 years ago in Chelmsford. Year on year we strive to provide a quality service that makes our brides feel extra special. Why should brides choose to get their dress from a local boutique? We will always provide that little bit more to ensure our customers are happy with their experience as well as the dress they’ve purchased. We offer advice on styles, colours and suitability as well as an alteration service to make sure you look a million dollars on your special day. What’s your top tip for brides looking for their dream dress? Only take a couple of guests with you when shopping; the more conflicting views you get the harder it is. Also, limit the number of shops you visit as you can get overwhelmed with choice. What designers do you stock? Venus Bridal, Venus Woman, Veromia, Sonsie By Veromia, Special Day, Ella Rose and Femme from Private Label by G. How did you come to launch your business? We moved our videography, disco and stationery business into a shop and purchased some wedding-related stock to sell alongside. It wasn’t long before the dresses became the star of the show so we went in that direction. Having studied fabric, fashion and design I was only too pleased with this new venture. Why should brides choose to get their dress from a local boutique? It’s always good to support local suppliers, and even more so in the current situation, which has meant the loss of so many livelihoods and businesses that people have spent years building up. You’ll get a much more personal service from people whose customers are their top priority. You’re treated as an individual and our after-sales service is second to none. What’s your top tip for brides looking for their dream dress? Be flexible with the styles you try on. Even if you don’t think it’ll suit you, you never know! What designers do you stock? Morilee, Maggie Sottero, Sottero & Midgley, Rebecca Ingram, Essense of Australia, Stella York, Justin Alexander and Ronald Joyce. How did you come to launch your business? When I got married I spent a small fortune on my dream dress, but it was destined to be stored in a box. I realised that by launching Something Borrowed Bridal, I would be able to help brides experience a beautiful designer gown by hiring it at a fraction of the purchase price. Why should brides choose to get their dress from a local boutique? By visiting a local boutique you’ll receive a more personal service, in a private space dedicated to giving you the best possible experience while viewing and trying on hand-selected styles. When it’s time to collect, or pop back in to try it on, you’re only a short journey away. What’s your top tip for brides looking for their dream dress? Wear appropriate underwear and bring shoes that are similar to the height you’ll wear on the day. Most of all, don’t stress, have fun and enjoy the experience.
