An Essex Wedding - November/December 2020 (Issue 95)

Hedingham Castle is stunning from the outset, but when you explore all the hidden gems it’s a total no-brainer. I was sold on the beautiful castle and how Christmassy the mansion would look. Ross was sold on the fact that the chandeliers were from Casino Royale and the coat of arms was in A Knight’s Tale ! The cake was a three-tier giant gingerbread house, hidden behind it were three different cakes: fruit, chocolate and peppermint and apple crumble. Our theme had to be winter wonderland, and we chose a navy and silver palette. In the castle, dark red flowers reflected the atmosphere, while in the marquee we opted for white florals and foliage. The centrepieces were white trees with a Christmas wreath around each one for a festive element. The top table was for ourselves and our parents, while all our family and friends were seated on round tables. The place settings were silver embossed cards with either a snowflake or navy ribbon. We gave homemade hot chocolate jars as favours. As it was December, we had Christmas trees in the corner adorned with navy and silver decorations with presents underneath. 48
