An Essex Wedding - Mar/Apr 2020 (Issue 91)

How do couples decide on their drinks menu for their big day? We invite our lovely couples into the Hornchurch bar to choose their drinks menu from the extensive range we have on offer. If there’s something more unusual or quirky they’re looking for, chances are we have access to it as our local supplier has thousands of incredible products to choose from at excellent prices. What’s your favourite thing about working in the wedding industry? I adore introducing new drinks and unique concoctions to wedding guests and seeing the look on their faces! It takes confidence to recommend options based on people’s tastes, and there’s great skill in knowing what questions to ask in order to make those recommendations. For example, we offer a yummy mini cocktail shot, which we make in front of the customer called an After Eight – it has tequila in it but no one ever guesses! It’s also great hearing the comment, “that’s divine, but what’s in it?” When it comes to wine, there’s nothing better than setting the wine list for the food menu and seeing people enjoying the products you’ve chosen for them from all over the world. PAUL’S TOP TIP: Consider the variety of products on offer for your big day. For example, you could offer a range for each type of spirit rather than just one type of vodka, gin, rum and whiskey.
