Pig & Whistle Restaurant is the most cosy, most intimate and therefore the most romantic venue in Essex. Our multi award-winning restaurant is located in the Chelmsford countryside overlooking rolling fields offering ceremonies and celebrations for up to 30 people. The venue has a mix of indoor and outdoor rooms which are licensed for a ceremony. Our award-winning menus use locally sourced food for a delicious wedding breakfast. Talk us through the decor and style of the venue? Inside our 16th century house, we’re decorated with tiffany lamps, trinkets and candles. Our tables are decked in white tablecloths, silverware, glassware, and candles with wooden chairs and antiquities on the walls. Our rooms exude a warm and inviting atmosphere. Where can guests have their ceremony? Indoors, our cosy, vintage-style room is decorated with cherry blossoms and fairylights on the ceiling, giving it a warm and intimate atmosphere. There are various antique-style furniture pieces, artwork, and decorative items around the room, adding to its old-world charm. Outdoors, our wooden decked area overlooks beautiful farmland and is decorated with green potted plants, water features and surrounded by a shaded pergola. All our indoor and outdoor rooms are licensed for the ceremony. Talk us through your favourite menus for the wedding breakfast. We offer a range of menu price points created by our award-winning chef. We’re renowned for our use of local produce and our two AA Rosettes for food excellence. Our couples’ favourite menu includes panfried scallops with minted pea puree, a trio of lamb with a rosemary & garlic fondant potato and an oozing chocolate fondant with miso caramel sauce. How many people can you cater for? We can accommodate up to 30 loved ones for the ceremony and a wedding breakfast, and an additional 20 if couples choose to extend their celebrations into the evening. Do you have an outdoor area? We have two interconnected outdoor areas. Our decked outdoor room (mentioned previously) accommodates up to 30 people and on a raised decking area that overlooks the countryside. It’s covered with a pergola with a light roof. Our sun terrace runs along a field edge and is great for drink - decorated in olive trees, ivy and creeping foliage. To continue the celebrations into the night, what are the options? Indoors, the room used for the ceremony makes a perfect dancing area and space for a DJ or small band as well as dancing, or in the summer months, our outdoor room is a lovely spot to relax or have outdoor music.
