As cheesy as it sounds, it was honestly love at first sight.” remembers Alison. “We met at my local yacht club, and it felt like something out of a movie. Jack was a professional sailor at the time, competing with his dad, and they were there for a sailing competition. We locked eyes from across the room, and I’ll never forget the moment he came over to buy a drink. After my shift, he asked if I wanted to join him and his friends at the next pub. Of course, I said yes, and the night was full of amazing conversations. Fast forward 10 years, and here we are—married, with our first baby on the way!” The pair said their ‘I dos’ at Colchester Oyster Fishery on 21st September 2024. Here, Alison tells us more about their day... Alison had always dreamed of an outdoor wedding, ideally near the sea. With both Alison and Jack having such a deep connection to sailing and the ocean, it was a must to have that at the heart of their wedding. Alison tells us more, “We’d walked around Mersea Island a few times, and when we found out the Colchester Oyster Fishery had just undergone a huge renovation, including a beautiful balcony overlooking the river, we had to check it out. Not knowing if they even hosted events, we boldly asked if they’d ever considered being a wedding venue. To our absolute delight, they said, yes! Jack and I became the first couple ever to get married there, and we couldn’t have been more thrilled.” SETTING THE SCENE Food was a major focus for foodies, Alison and Jack, and they knew exactly what they wanted, lobster and skinny fries! Dominic Catering served up quite the feast, serving lobster, mouthwatering steak, fries, and fresh salads. For dessert, espresso martini tiramisus, which were a perfect nod to Jack’s signature boozy espresso martinis. “ 30
