An Essex Wedding - March/April 2024 (Issue 115)

55 PLANNING SOS Here at An Essex Wedding, we understand how overwhelming organising your nuptials can be. We’ve spoken to our local industry experts to offer their tips and advice! My advice to any couple starting to plan their big day, is to grab a big piece of paper and create a mind map, firstly writing all the elements they definitely don’t want at the bottom! Then start to jot down all the things that they love, this could be movies, hobbies, family, holidays, colours, places, types of venues, woodland, castle anything. Then let that inspire their day. After all, your wedding should reflect you, not be what Aunt Mavis thinks you should have! Then get on Pinterest for some inspo. As for walking down the aisle, it’s your day, you can walk, run, dance down that aisle in any way you choose. The beauty of having a celebrant led wedding means we will not only write and deliver a completely bespoke ceremony, including any elements you choose, readings, fur baby ring bearers or cocktail mixing ceremony (pictured). We can also help with the logistics and choreography of all other elements. Finally, have fun! Take time out to enjoy the process, it can seem like a whirlwind. If you get carried away in one direction that doesn’t feel right, go back to your mind map! When planning your wedding décor consider hiring your items from a professional décor company. Professionals will know what works well together, have ample choice to suit your style and will be well versed on setting up and getting everything ready prior to and on your wedding day. Whilst it can be tempting to head to the shops and buy pretty items for your big day, reality is you’ll spend a lot more money buying enough items to fill a wedding venue, then you have to consider where to store them on the lead up to the wedding. Not to mention drafting in the family to help set up on the day which can be incredibly time consuming when you want to focus on getting ready yourselves! Hiring silk flowers for your centrepieces will get you larger beautiful arrangements for less money than purchasing yourself or buying a fresh equivalent. All with the benefit of someone doing all of the designing, making and setting up for you! Professionals can help you choose items to maximise the use of your décor to give you value for money. For example, choosing items for your ceremony that can be re purposed in your wedding breakfast. And focusing on wow factor items for the all-important wedding photos!
