An Essex Wedding - March/April 2022 (Issue 103)

Tommy was also quite chilled and relaxed and wa s enjoying getting ready with the boys having a few beers, though he did say he was a little worried about me in the morning as the wedding co-ordinator had told him I was very emotional, and that is not usually me! Overall, we were both just so excited that our wedding was going ahead with all our wonderful family and friends. We had an amazing singer Fil Straughan, who made our day! He sung me down the aisle to ‘So Amazing’ by Luther Vandross and sung us back up the aisle to ‘Sign, Sealed, Delivered’ by Stevie Wonder. He performed during our drinks reception and wedding breakfast; he got everyone up dancing, and he and Tommy surprised me with a personalised version of ‘Juicy’ by The Notorious BIG. Tommy also sung ‘My Girl’ during his speech! In the evening we had a great DJ, Andy from Herts, he played all the right music the dancefloor was never empty! My bridesmaids wore ballet-pink, spaghetti strap, silk dresses with a side split and heels. My sister was my maid-of-honour and her dress was accessorised with a diamanté belt so she stood out. The groom wore a navy double-breasted suit from Gieves & Hawkes, Savile Row, with a white shirt, baby blue tie and black Churches shoes. He looked so handsome and smart as he always does! I chose to wear my hair up, which shocked many people – I had so many comments! It was styled with lots of soft twists for pretty detail. We were lucky that we never had to postpone our day, and it went ahead with no restrictions on our original date. I felt so grateful and so overwhelmed by seeing it all come together – I couldn’t stop crying! I wore a plain veil with scattered diamantés which my mum bought along with my dress. I wore Gucci block heels and diamond studs I’ve had for years (my something old) – my dress was a big enough statement! I wore a stunning dress called Octavia by Enzoni . I only tried on two dresses, I knew straight away it was the one when I walked out to show my mum and sister – they both cried. I always knew I wanted a sweetheart design with detail, fitted with white buttons up the back, I wa nted a long train and this dress had it all! REAL WEDDINGS 35
