Your Yorkshire Wedding - November/December 2025 (Issue 75)

Bethany and Steve met at York St John University where they were flatmates and have been inseparable ever since. Their first days at uni were a blur of exploring their new home by day and spending fun filled evenings with friends. “I don’t think any of them were oblivious to the fact that we were falling quickly for each other,” Bethany shares. When Steve woke Bethany up one Saturday morning and surprised her with an overnight trip to York, she was immediately suspicious! Whilst there he proposed in the Museum gardens alongside the river. “He’d even booked an evening meal where we had our first date and a spa the next morning,” Bethany remembers. “He’d thought of everything.” Camblesforth Hall was the first venue they viewed just two weeks after becoming engaged. “We loved the decor and after meeting owners Naomi and Byron a couple of times and seeing how passionate they were about working with us to make the day uniquely ours, we knew nowhere else could compare,” Bethany explains. The couple were keen to lean into a summer vibe for the styling of their big day and included pops of bright pinks and oranges in their florals and stationery. Their photographer, Hamish, thrives in fun, colourful environments, so this was a match made in Heaven! Bethany and Steve were passionate about making sure their wedding was unquestionably theirs. Beloved cockapoo Winnie featured on their invitations and order of service illustrated by groomswoman Kate. The chic venue styling tied together beautifully in vibrant palette colours along with funky disco ball and bow motifs. “We created a wedding brand out of things that are us,” Bethany explains. “We have a green living room with pink and orange ornaments and a disco ball in the corner. So, this brought a little bit of home to our wedding.” 28
