Your Yorkshire Wedding - May/June 2023 (Issue 60)

Alison and Roman met at secondary school. “We knew of each other, but it wasn’t until we left school that we got to know each other properly through parties and mutual friends,” says the bride. “It wasn’t a romantic story with lots of flowers and dates – we were young, clicked and fell in love!” Roman proposed on the couple’s 10 year anniversary. “We were meant to be in Italy celebrating, but Covid hit so he popped the question during lockdown,” continues the bride. “I’d made Roman a memory book with photographs of different times throughout our relationship as a gift, and jokingly wrote on the last page, ‘What will be next for us?’. I’d of course written it as a not-so-subtle hint, but was shocked when he got to the last page and got down on one knee, producing a ring from his pocket!” The couple set the date for the 28th May, 2022, choosing Bunny Hill Weddings for their big day. Here, Alison tells us more about their amazing celebration… THE PERFECT PLACE Choosing a venue was one of the easiest options for the couple. “I had stumbled across Bunny Hill Weddings on Instagram a year or so before we got engaged and fell in love with it just from the pictures,” says Alison. “I followed their account and always thought how amazing it would be to get married there ome day. After we got engaged I made sure to book a viewing as soon as was possible – and it didn’t disappoint. It was everything we had ever dreamt of and more, with private grounds and stunning scenery. We also loved how the owners had thought of every single detail – it even has a zip line on site! We had other viewings booked at alternative venues, but as soon as we left and got in the car, Roman turned to me and said, ‘This has got to be where we get married!’” PIC ’N’ MIX When it came to organising the little touches, Alison and Roman had plenty of ideas to hand. “Our gorgeous wooden table place names were made by a close friend of ours,” continues Alison. “Our florist was in charge of designing our centrepieces, with half the tables featuring tall gold stands with flower arrangements on, plus floating candles, tealights and petals around the base. The other half featured floating candles in glass cylinders and stemmed glass at different heights with tealights and petals. They looked incredible!” For favours, the couple decided to go for something to really get people talking. “We opted for little ‘roulette’ shot bottles for each guest, with either a clear spirit or water!” continues Alison. “After Roman finished his speech, he asked everyone to take a drink from their bottles – and their faces instantly gave away what drink they had!” 33 REAL WEDDINGS
