Your Yorkshire Wedding - May/June 2023 (Issue 60)

Even though we married at the same venue as our reception, my dad wanted a traditional father/daughter journey, so we hired a 1949 Cadillac for before and after the ceremony. I found my Essence of Australia dress at Silsden’s Ava Rose Hamilton. I knew I wanted an A-line design, but never thought I’d fall in love with such a simple gown! I added sparkle with a jewelled belt and plenty of lace with my amazing veil. We wanted a natural and wild but vibrant coloured look for our flowers. Our florist fitted our style perfectly, using sustainable products and making some incredible creations. My sister made our delicious cake, sitting down with us to design exactly what we wanted. It even included our names in Arabic painted on the front. Wharfedale Grange is a stunning venue and we instantly knew it was the one. Everywhere you look you find a quirky unique feature you won’t have seen anywhere else. Karim is Egyptian, so our theme centered around the country. Tables were named after Ancient Pharaohs, and we had miniature statues of each on the table, bought from Egypt’s markets. 28
