Your Yorkshire Wedding - March/April 2023 (Issue 59)

Q&A Our two experts answer your hair and beauty dilemmas Beauty REDDY OR NOT I never really get my make-up ‘right’, as everything seems to clash with my auburn hair, pale skin and freckles! I’ve no idea what to do for my bridal make-up – help! I love red hair and freckles; it’s such a beautiful and classic combination. I always believe in making your skin the star of the show, so start by ensuring your complexion’s properly hydrated. Next, choose the right foundation, looking for neutral undertones to balance the pink of your skin, and the warmer tones from your freckles. Next, use an illuminator, followed by a light coverage base and a touch of soft pink blusher to make your face look fresh and youthful. Brows should be soft but defined, then for your eyes swipe a Champagne or light gold across your lid, followed by a soft brown liner, drawing along your lash line and smudging with your finger. Take a little of that brown into the outer edge of your socket for depth before adding lashings of mascara, then finish by patting the same cream blush on your lips for a soft, diffused effect. How many hairdressers will we need – and how can I make it so it’s stress-free? Planning, communication and timings are crucial, so make sure your stylist knows how many ladies need their hair doing, as well as where they’ll get ready and what time you need to leave for your ceremony; while ensuring there’s enough time to all get dressed. A second stylist may be needed to start your hair prep, or will assist in ensuring you’re ready on time. Some companies (such as ours) provide a second stylist for free, whereas others may charge, so be sure to ask first. You should also ensure you book in for a trial around six weeks before your wedding, where your stylist will look at your hair type, length and volume. Take your hair accessories to the trial, too, so they can incorporate them in your hair. Finally, don’t be afraid to tell them of any concerns – they want your hair to look as perfect as you do for your big day!
