All the latest from the region CHARLOTTE ELIZABETH PHOTOGRAPHY SCOOPS THE WIN! The North of England Wedding Awards recognise businesses in the wedding industry which go the extra mile for their customers, providing outstanding service and inspiring their customers to want to actively and positively promote them. Each year, hundreds of companies enter into the awards. Votes are submitted in their thousands. From these votes finalists are created, and the winners are normally announced at York Racecourse. This year, Charlotte Elizabeth Photography scooped Best Photographer. Here, Charlotte tells us more about the night... “This year I can say that I’m a North of England Wedding Award winner in the Yorkshire Photographer category. There were so many amazing photographers in the running this year, it was a complete shock when my name was called out on the night. I’ve entered a few different wedding awards over the years, but this one is my favourite. It’s free to enter – the only cost involved is going to the awards evening (which is optional) – and it’s fair. The judges take into account the comments written by couples as well as the scores given, which means that if all the photographers entered shoot a different amount of weddings, we all have an equal chance of winning.” Visit: https://charlotteelizabethphotography.com Berry’s Jewellers double win The UK awards, organised by watch industry title WatchPro, was a spectacular gala dinner in Central London. Covering every aspect of the watch sector, from business and brand, to retailers, this year’s awards recognised the successes within the industry across an array of different categories. Berry’s Jewellers won Family-Owned Watch Retailer of The Year and Retail Leadership Team of the year (Simon Oxby & Simon Walton). These latest accolades follow several notable industry awards wins over the course of the year for the familyowned business which is currently celebrating its 125th anniversary year. Simon Walton, Managing Director of Berry’s, commented on the win, “We’re delighted to celebrate our 125th anniversary alongside the WatchPro Awards 2022. Receiving these awards demonstrates the hard work that the family and our incredible team at Berry’s has put into the business. We also thank our customers for being the main driver of our success - we truly appreciate them all.” It’s been a great year for Berry’s Jewellers, after also winning Watch Retailer of the Year accolade, and Retailer of the Year (six stores or more) in the UK Jewellery Awards 2022, where Berry’s was praised by the expert judging panel for great in-store service, a thriving website, and a robust product selection, scoring a 92 per cent mystery shop score. Berry’s boasts boutiques across the nation, including York, Leeds, Newcastle, Hull, Nottingham and Windsor. BIJOU BRIDALWINS BIG! TWIA is the regional and national client-voted awards in the UK wedding industry. It was established in 2011 to recognise and reward excellence in the UK wedding industry and to help anyone organising a wedding to find the best suppliers. This year’s event was held at The Fed in Gateshead Newcastle - and what a night it was! Kerensa Dyson tells us more about the night and her boutique’s big win! “It was a night of celebrating with wonderful bridal industry buddies from the best in bridal, from bridal boutiques to florists, make-up artists, barn venues and so much more. You could hear a pin drop when the ceremony began and everyone was on tenterhooks waiting for their name to be read out! The Bridal Retailer category was the very first award to be given and a Highly Commended Award was awarded to another regional finalist and then the winner was announced - Bijou Bridal Boutique! At this point I burst into tears and gave my husband a huge hug and kiss before heading up to the stage to receive my award, getting congratulated by everyone in the room on the way up! I was a blithering wreck by the time I got up to hug Damian, the organiser of The Wedding Industry Awards, but it was so worth it. I cannot thank my incredible #bijoubrides enough for taking the time to vote for me - without you none of this would have been possible, so thank you from the bottom of my heart.” Visit the website: https://bijoubridalboutique.com/#bijou to read all about the store and what gowns it offers! A white wedding Fluffy white snowflakes fell from the clouds at Hornington Manor on Sophie and Elliot Cole’s perfect day Images courtesy of The Fitzpatricks Sophie and Elliot met via Match dating site. The couple laughs that it’s an ongoing joke that Elliot paid more for Sophie – as Sophie had a discount code for the site! What a bargain! Sophie adds, “We met relatively early on in our subscription, so we did have to have the conversation about whether or not we needed to renew!” As luck had it, the stars were aligned for these two teaching professionals and now, they have their six weeks summer holidays to spend together! Elliot proposed to Sophie on 25th August 2020, on the shore of Loch Ness in Scotland. “Scotland has been a favourite holiday destination for both us and our families when we were growing up. Sophie explains. “Elliot proposed with my grandmother’s ring which made it even more special. The whole event was a surprise and we celebrated by drinking champagne and going out for a meal, most of which was spent in silence as we were in shock! We went back to our holiday cottage to drink more champagne and play scrabble (which is where the scrabble theme for the wedding came from). The pair said their I do’s at Hornington Manor on 19th February 2022. Here, the Cole’s tell us more about their day… 29 REAL WEDDINGS

Elliot wore a navy suit by Herbie Frog. This was accessorised with a Liberty print tie and pocket square. The best men wore the same pink tie as the groomsmen but with a matching pocket square to Elliot. The ceremony was our favourite part. One of the readings was a personalised poem written by our friends from o ur running club and we hadn’t heard it before, it was so lovely. My wedding dress was called Welrose by Ronald Joyce. I loved the sparkly detail in the straps and the low back. I also loved that it had pockets in which I was able to keep my personalised vows and a tissue for all the tears! I was so excited! After I had had my hair and make-up done, I cried as I felt really overwhelmed. We were able to have the venue for the whole we ekend which meant our guests were able to have a holiday themselves an d we were able to spend time with everyone. Jo, the events coordinator was a huge selling point by being so warm, welcoming and relaxed – she ma de us feel like the place really was ours. We were attracted to Hornington Manor becaus e we were given free rein to do what we wanted to it including choice of supp liers and decorations. Memories to last a lifetime... 30

The night before the wedding, Storm Eunice hit! It knocked down a tree onto a house and there was a power cut to the whole venue. We were due to have a p arty (which we continued to have) but it was all don e in candlelight, which looking back now was very sp ecial, at the time we were a bit panicky! Elliot remembers, “Whilst waiting for the bride t o enter (and Sophie was speaking to the registrar) the heavens opened an d it started snowing. The flakes of snow were massive and it was the most beautiful sight, so we really did have a white wedding! Sophie is known to love snow, so it made it all the more special.” Prior to, during the ceremony and for the drinks reception, guests were entertained by Champagne Strings, the string quartet that Sophie is usually a part of (although someone else stepped in for Sophie on the day!). My dress was accessorised with the most beautiful floor length veil with sparkles which glistened in the lighting at the venue. We still say now that we’ve never felt so loved as we did in the lead up to and on that day. We were overwhelmed by this a nd wish we could do it all over again. The cake topper was handmade by Sophie. 31 REAL WEDDINGS

In the evening we were entertained by the most i ncredible band, Kudos who guests are still talking about now. We chose Homegrown Hospitality as our caterer s as we wanted proper, homemade food which would fill our gue sts up. Sophie’s favourite food is pie, so it was a perfect choice fo r a winter’s day. The flowers were white and pink roses with the addition of freesias to my bouquet as they were my grandmother’s favourites. On all the photos you can see how happy I am, a nd it wasn’t put on, I spent the whole evening dancing and sayin g, “I’ve had the best day of my whole entire life.” SOPHIE AND ELLIOT’S CONTACTS Venue, www.horningtonmanor.co.uk | Photographer, www.fitzpatrickphotography.co.uk | Dress, www.theaisleofwhite.co.uk Hair and make-up, www.alisonmakeupartist.co.uk | Suits, www.tweedandgroom.co.uk | Cake, www.thesugarflorist.com | Catering, www.homegrownhospitality.co.uk | Band, www.kudosfunctions.com | String Trio, www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100008159149272 THE COLE’S TOP TIP! Enjoy it! Take a step back through the day and look at all the people that are there because they love you. It really is the best day ever! Tables were named after breweries. Elliot is a massive craft beer fan and this was reflected in our wedding. In addition to this, we provided a beer from a local craft brewery and the money from this went to Mencap and a charity close to the groom’s family. Favours were drinks tokens and a scratch card, as we liked being able to offer all of our guests, day and evening, a welcome drink. No-one won the big bucks on the scratch card though - as far as we’re aware! 32

in style Joshua and Charlotte Bell married at Carlton Towers with so many surprises along the way to wow guests Images courtesy of Eternity Photo ARRIVING 34

Joshua and Charlotte met in the crazy world of social media. Fastforward to 2020, two months pregnant with their baby girl, Myla, Joshua popped the question. An easy reply, Charlotte said, yes! It was love at first sight with their chosen venue, Carlton Towers. Driving past for the first time, they stopped the car and called the venue to schedule a viewing. Charlotte remembers, “On the day of our visit, we got up early, went for breakfast, then set off for our appointment. The view on the trail to the house was breathtaking. We walked up the stone stairs and through the massive entrance doors that opened into the most spectacular place we’ve ever set foot in. We call it fate the day we accidentally drove past Carlton Towers. This was the most perfect venue that we could wish to say ‘I do’ in.” On 16th April 2022, the pair tied the knot in their fairytale wedding. Here, the happy couple tell us more about their day... SETTING THE SCENE Setting the tone of the day, both the bride and groom certainly arrived in style. As Charlotte explains, “Josh arrived in a helicopter, and I trotted down the driveway with our girls and my dad in an ivory open-roofed carriage accompanied by two spectacularly dressed, immaculate white horses. These entrances were a lovely surprise for our guests who were all relaxing on the lawns outside when Josh arrived.” Sophia from Sophia’s Final Touch really helped to make all the details a perfect match of elegant and rustic. The chairs were all dressed with classic white chiffon drapes with a sprig of eucalyptus placed in the back of each chair. The aisle was lined with floating candles and chapel candles and thousands of fresh white rose petals along a huge white carpet. Charlotte adds, “To frame us both we had two 10ft canopy blossom trees to make it picture perfect! For the evening, we added giant rustic light up Love letters and had a projector which projected our names onto the dancefloor.” As the couple weren’t fans of cake, they decided to go with a seven-tier pork pie and cheese cake by the West Country Cheese Company. This was delivered the day before the wedding and kept fresh by Carlton Towers. 35 REAL WEDDINGS

DRESSED TO IMPRESS Charlote bought her dress from Limelight Occasions in Huddersfield. With a view to try on plenty of dresses in multiple boutiques, this wasn’t the case as she quickly found ‘the one’. Charlotte swoons, “The boutique was full of everything a bride to be could ever dream of! Needleless to say I didn’t just find ‘the dress’ I also found ‘the suits’ - and the most perfect eucalyptus coloured dresses for our older girls.” TIME TO CELEBRATE The tables were impeccably decorated with crystal candelabras. Wedding stylist, Sophia, added gypsophila, ruscus, eucalyptus and English roses to create a classical and elegant touch. The couple chose mini heart-shaped shortbread biscuits which were in keeping with the wedding décor. There were two designs: a miniature version of Charlotte’s wedding dress, and a miniature version of Joshua’s suit! MEMORABLE MOMENTS Charlotte adds, “the day went so fast! I’d married my best friend in front of all of the people we love the most, the food was five-star quality, and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. Everything was beyond anything I’d ever dreamed of a young girl.” As the photographs confirm, the day was picture perfect. Congratulations! 37 REAL WEDDINGS
