Made you look Local experts answer your worries on looking your big-day best I’ve opted for a chic and simple column gown, but want to go all out with my accessories. What do you suggest? A simple gown presents the best opportunity for you to go statement with your accessories. Choosing a full headpiece like my Harley Crown will pull the eye up through your whole look and finish things with a glorious flourish! Heidi Reid |Founder and creative director | Glorious by Heidi www.gloriousbyheidi.com www.instagram.com/gloriousbyheidi.com I’m hoping my hen do abroad will go ahead ‒ depending on travel restrictions ‒ but I’m worried how this extra dose of sun before the big day will affect my make-up and bridal look! Help! What can I do? A nice time in the sun will give you a fabulous glow for your big day, although think about those tan lines! Make-up wise make sure you use a good-quality high-factor suncream on your face and try to keep your face out of the sun if possible by wearing a hat. Your make-up artist may just have to adjust your foundation colour slightly if you had your trial before your trip away. Either way enjoy the time on your hen do! What’s your advice to start this daunting task? Wedding gown shopping should be fun, but if not prepared can turn out to be the opposite! Do a little research before you book appointments. Word of mouth is great if someone you know had a good experience, look at shop websites, Google reviews and reach out to them on social media, we are happy to answer your questions. Having an idea of budget is always a good, most shops don’t openly display prices on their websites so don’t be afraid to contact them beforehand and ask for a guide on price range. Do you have any special requirements? Check what sample sizes they have in store, do they have a seamstress, can they cater for a bride in a wheelchair etc. All of these are questions best asked before your visit ‒ and don’t be afraid to ask what the payment terms are. These are all commonly heard and if you are a little uncomfortable it’s often easier to ask from a distance rather than face to face. Check your options on timescale, do you have enough time to order, if not and you are looking for off-the-peg, what selection do they have in store? If you book multiple appointments and find your perfect dress early on, please just take a couple of minutes to cancel at other shops, it’s something we do expect and whilst disappointing it’s not nearly as frustrating as waiting for a bride that doesn’t show up.
