Our cake was a semi-naked design with white flowers from Home Farm Kitchen. For the reception, I chose a simple white dress so I could move around easily. We chose a laid back theme with lots of white flowers and green leaves. May Rose Floral Design made our centrep ieces perfectly. CAN KEEP US APART Nothing Mazaya and Harry planned a last minute celebration at Crumplebury Farm Images courtesy of Zara Davis Photography M azaya and Harry met at a house party while attending Birmingham University. “We were both sitting on the couch while everyone else was dancing,” says Mazaya. “We started talking, and the rest is history. I loved how nice and how passionate he was. I also appreciate that he’s very patient and fights for our relationship even though we have so many differences like culture and language.” Harry proposed on Tiger Island, Indonesia, on 1 st December, 2019. “We spent two days at an eco-resort where most of the rooms have private access to the ocean,” shares the bride. “He asked me to marry him while we were chilling outside the room watching the sunset. I guessed that he wanted to propose as we’d talked about getting married a few months before, and he asked me to go away for the weekend, and since he doesn’t like travelling, I was a bit suspicious. Regardless, when he kneeled, I cried and, of course, said yes!” Crumplebury Farm is minimalist but so pretty. We wanted our wedding to be intimate and simple, and the venue fit our theme perfectly. We also chose the property based on location as we wanted our friends and family to find it easily. I wore a traditional dress with modern touches from Santi Boutique in Indonesia. My country has around 1,300 ethnicities in around 30 provinces, and each province has its own traditional wedding dress. The top I wore was called Kebaya, and the colour and pattern of the skirt are called Sido Luhur. It’s the hope that the couple will have a noble mind and heart and that they can be useful to others and the environment. It also shows that I’m part of the Java ethnic, particularly from a city called Yogyakarta where my dad comes from. REAL WEDDINGS 47
