Making waves Tie the knot in a waterside venue WOTTON HOUSE, RH5 6HS 01306 730 000 | www.wottonhouse.co.uk Wotton House dates back to the 16th-century when it was sold by Henry Owen to the Evelyn family. John Evelyn, one of three sons of Richard Evelyn, was inspired by what he had discovered on his travels and constructed an Italian garden and temple, designed by his cousin, Captain George Evelyn, which was soon joined by a parterre garden complete with an Italian fountain. Since then, the estate has been passed through the Evelyn family, who have all been passionate about preserving John’s legacy, whilst adding their own touches to the estate. Guests are welcome to explore the 13 acres of gardens, which have been deemed worthy of protection and individually Grade II listed. Flowing peacefully through the estate is The River Tillingbourne, which had its own mill at one time. It has since become awash with aquatic plants and wildlife, including a family of ducks who come and go as they please. Inside the hotel are several luxurious bedrooms and junior suites, a restaurant, leisure facilities and a range of wedding spaces. Celebrate in style The Grade II listed Italian gardens is fully licensed for civil ceremonies of up to 140 guests. Celebrate the joys of nature by opting for an outdoor wedding ceremony underneath one of the two majestic temples. With panoramic views of the gardens, it’s a beautiful space to say ‘I do’ and take photographs. The grand vaulted ceilings, pillars and centuries-old original marble fireplaces set a romantic tone for an indoor ceremony in The Old Library. A whimsical, showstopping setting for weddings, with natural daylight shining through the stone Gothic windows and Ancient Greek phrases written on the walls. We love... The dedicated wedding team at Wotton House will be on hand to help every step of the way to make the day is worry-free and full of lasting memories. THEMED VENUES 27
