Now, I must admit I was late to the Bridgerton party and only binged-watched series one-to-three over Christmas – shame on me! After the release of series four part one and two in January and February respectively, I can now appreciate the hype. It is pure escapism at its frivolous finest. We can switch off from our everyday realities for 60-minutes getting lost in Regency-era splendour and romance, quite the guilty pleasure indeed. The Bridgerton-effect cascades down into everything around us, from fashion to florals, décor to catering, it’s a dreamy, romantic aesthetic that’s so easily transferable to weddings. What’s more, teamed with Cloud Dancer – Pantone’s Colour of the Year – these two exquisitely decadent 2026 trends will have wedding guests in awe of your Instagramable big day, and we expect to see these themes in wedding day styling for the rest of this year – and likely in to 2027! New resin party workshops Alma Makes is a Surrey-based floral preservation studio specialising in transforming wedding bouquets and meaningful flowers into timeless resin keepsakes. As more couples look for modern ways to preserve their wedding flowers, resin preservation has grown in popularity for its ability to maintain the natural beauty and structure of the blooms while creating striking pieces of art for the home. Using professional flower-drying techniques and high-quality resin, each bouquet is carefully preserved and arranged into beautiful display pieces such as statement blocks, hearts and decorative designs that can be treasured after the wedding day. Alongside bouquet preservation, Alma Makes has recently introduced a new experience for brides and their bridal parties – resin jewellery workshops designed especially for hen celebrations. These relaxed and creative sessions allow brides and their friends to design and make their own floral-inspired jewellery pieces, creating a meaningful keepsake from the celebration. In addition to private hen party workshops, Alma Makes has also begun hosting regular evening resin jewellery workshops in Epsom. These small-group sessions provide a welcoming and creative environment where guests can design and make their own pendants or earrings using resin and dried flowers, with no experience required. For more details visit almamakes.com IN OUR BRIDGERTON-ERA 2026 started off marvellously with series four of Bridgerton hitting our screens in January and February respectively. Having spotted beloved Surrey locations regularly across the earlier series’, it was a welcomed delight to have another historic Surrey property make a first-time appearance in series four, Loseley Park. It provided the perfect backdrop for Benedict and Sophie’s love story this season. Discover these other Surrey locations in Bridgerton... • Painshill, Cobham The manicured grounds of this 18th-century landscape garden create the perfect setting for promenading, picnicking, boating… and, of course, gossip. • Loseley Park, near Guildford This 16th-century gem appears as ‘My Cottage’, Benedict Bridgerton’s idyllic rural retreat. • Hampton Court Palace, East Molesey The world-famous home of King Henry VIII transformed into St James’s Palace, the London residence of Queen Charlotte. • Ham House NT, Richmond This 17th-century mansion on the Thames hosts the spectacular Masquerade Ball and other glittering gatherings. While these iconic locations offer perfect inspiration for Bridgerton-themed days out, much of the series was brought to life on a bespoke two-acre backlot at Pinewood Studios’ renowned Shepperton Studios in Surrey! Hampton Court House is a stunning Georgian mansion set within nine acres of enchanting 18th-century gardens Completed in 1757, the house was once described as ‘an elegant and recherché mansion, suitable for a wealthy merchant prince’. Today the house boasts a stunning main hall, conservatory, theatre, dining room and several private rooms with magnificent views overlooking Bushy Park, desirable for weddings and events. The house and landscaped sunken gardens were designed by the renowned architect of the time Thomas Wright, who was also responsible for several other very special period features, such as the heart-shaped lake and the exquisitely decorated shell grotto. The grotto served as a banqueting house and no doubt was the venue of many moonlit parties. Today the grotto is a rare blend of two upper class obsessions of the time: Rococo garden design and shell collecting. Ceremonies take place in the grand hall, overlooking Bushy Park, it’s licensed for up to 150 guests; the marble fireplaces and chandeliers also make this a beautiful space for more intimate ceremonies. For al fresco nuptials, the beautiful gardens, surrounded by royal parkland, can also host 150 loved ones. Post-vows, the Victorian picture gallery, complete with 10m-high ceilings, is a magnificent room for a wedding breakfast and can seat 150 guests, while the enchanting conservatory leading out to the stunning patio garden is the perfect space for you to dance the night away with up to 200 evening attendees. LOVE STORY A modern-day The historic Great Fosters set the scene for Amy and Michael’s big day Images courtesy of Rachel Wood Weddings Amy and Michael matched on Tinder during the early days of lockdown in 2020. Amy was at the University of Hertfordshire studying for her social work degree while Michael was busy saving the world from gas leaks! Amy adds, “I had no interest in a relationship as I was planning study abroad with my best friend Ella. However, Michael with some persistent messing finally got me to respond! We agreed to FaceTime a few weeks on and it lasted six hours! We always knew there was something special from that moment.” Michael proposed in February 2023 on Amy’s 24th birthday. “It was the perfect surprise,” shares Amy. “A chauffeur arrived and drove us to the Shard in London! Michael asked me to marry him in a room on the 52nd floor; covered in candles and flower petals with a perfect sunset view of St Paul’s.” The big date was set for 24th May 2025, with Great Fosters providing an idyllic backdrop. “The venue was Michael’s first choice,” recalls Amy. “I chose to look at other venues, however, we knew from the moment we pulled in this was going to be our venue. We loved how authentic and historical it was, it had an amazing character and charm that other venues didn’t have.” Equally impressed with the staff at Great Fosters, the couple were made to feel so welcome from their first visits, which made it feel more special. Michael also loved the venue had an Italian Suite for the night of the wedding – it was a special nod to his Italian family. With a brief of ‘lots of colourful flowers’, Amy and Michael wanted a fun and relaxed day. “We also said our theme was a ‘modern day Henry VIII ball mixing traditional and modern elements,” shares Amy. “My bridesmaids were in mismatched green dresses with bouquets of colourful pink flowers, but no colour was off limit and we gave full control to our florist make beautiful flowers and they done just that!” Thoughtfully curating the day, the table places were dark green bows with individual names and personalised menus for everyone. Most of the stationery had a bespoke monogram which emphasised the theme, “other personalised touches such as love note napkins, drink stirrers, and glasses, elevated the evening party,” adds Amy. Ever After decorated the venue with large floral arrangements drawing attention to features such as the archway for the ceremony, while smaller meadow-style flowers adorned the tables. “We wanted our flowers to make a statement and be a focus of our décor,” shares Amy. “The company also decorated the outside space including welcome displays, and the outside cocktail and bar area to keep everything in keeping with our theme.” It was important to have a nod to Michael’s heritage, so the couple opted for sugared almonds which his aunty organised to come from Sicily. “We also used limoncello shots and drank them at the end of Michael’s speech!” recalls Amy. On the day, the bride wore a Freda Bennett Etta dress with custom sleeves from Lavender & Jude. “I’d initially gone shopping there alone, which I really recommend,” shares Amy. “Claire the owner looked after me the whole time, she knows what suites every bride and what will make them feel their best. I always thought I’d go for lace or sparkles, but satin is what I loved the most. I adore a puff sleeve and square neck, so I knew the dress reflected who I am and it felt like me – which Michael also said on the day!” The groom wore a three-piece Moon Shetland suit from Impeccable Wear. He teamed it with a tie and pocket square different from the groomsmen who had olive-green satin ties and pocket squares. The bridesmaids wore dresses in various styles in olive and sage tones, “it was important they could all wear dresses they felt confident and comfortable in,” adds Amy. The couple chose live entertainment for the ceremony to the end of the wedding breakfast; singer Deeanne received plenty of compliments from the guests. “She really helped keep a great vibe to our day,” adds Amy. “We also had a live sketch artist, who drew our guests which they could take away as a favour, while a mini golf set up entertained guests for a large part of the day – we had personalised golf balls, score cards and pencils!” In the evening, an audio guest book, photo booth, DJ and saxophonist kept the evening party going all night, “We loved our evening party, the dancefloor was busy and it was so much fun dancing as husband and wife!” remembers Amy. REAL WEDDINGS 27

Rose and Keith met in modern fashion, online, in June 2018. “It’s a running joke that, had I not been at my parents’ house the weekend we matched online, then Keith wouldn’t have come up in my search radius and we wouldn’t be here seven years and two kids later!” shares Rose Keith proposed at home on New Year’s Eve 2020; it was casual, calm and family orientated! “My eldest son came into the bathroom to tell me that Keith had given a present to Bodey, our little baby boy and had not given anything to Rory. I didn’t have a clue what was going on and followed Rory down the stairs to see what this present business was all about. As I entered the front room Keith was down on one knee, Bodey on the other knee and he was holding a beautiful handmade (by Keith) wooden ring box with a stunning ring inside!” The big date was set for May 2025. Here we find out more about their day… The Talbot was the only venue Keith and Rose looked at, luckily it ticked all the boxes. “It had history, character and charm, yet a modern feel in the gardens and conservatory where we would have drinks and photos after the ceremony,” shares Rose. “Krystyna (from The Talbot) absolutely won our hearts and was a major factor in us deciding that was the venue for us.” Wanting a relaxed day, the couple didn’t choose a theme, and opted for a simple colour palette of white and greens with a hint of pastel pink. “The brilliant Ether Events decorated the barns and Wisley Suite,” shares Rose. “We loved their previous work at The Talbot; hanging wicker hearts, lanterns and ivy across the beams, and dotting bud vases throughout the venue.” The couple also opted for a ‘broken’ moon gate with green and white artificial flowers as a backdrop for the ceremony, along with Chivari chairs decorated with an ivory sash, real foliage and small white wax flowers. “I was keen on doing some of the wedding décor myself too, although I’m not that creative I wanted to add a personal touch, no matter how small. I opted to do the table centrepieces myself and my sister kindly stepped in to help. We created some lovely flower hoops, added some rustic hanging hearts and lights, and placed them on some secondhand wooden logs.” Rose wore a simple wedding dress, Hedonia by Adriana Alier. “I’d been to three bridal shops, tried so many styles, even jumpsuits! But this one I just loved from the minute I tried it on, even without any alterations!” adds Rose. Keith looked dapper in a three-piece suit, teamed 28

with a sage green bow tie. Keith had a best man and the couple’s two sons as pageboys in dark navy suits. Rose’s sister was maid-of-honour, and wore a sage-green, one-shoulder chiffon dress. “Our little girl, Nyah who is three-years-old, wore a lovely ivory dress; it had a satin bodice with a tulle skirt and a built-in sash with a bow,” adds Rose. To entertain loved ones on the day, the couple had bags of games on tables where the kids would be sitting to amuse them throughout the meal, “it was great to see the kids and adults getting involved!” shares Rose. “In the evening, we had a photo pod with attendant and props and we hired.” Rose had many memorable moments to choose from when reminiscing about their day. “I absolutely loved the morning of the wedding. My mum, sister and I spent the morning together getting ready, with our lovely hair and make-up artist, Jojo. The kids would come in and out as they pleased which was lovely. The whole morning felt so chilled, sipping prosecco, chatting and laughing. It wasn’t how I expected to feel on my wedding morning as I’m not the most relaxed person!” shares Rose. “From the ceremony onwards, it went by in a flash but having a hug with my dad when he first saw me in my dress was very special and one of those moments I’ll cherish! “Finally, during our first dance, we welcomed all our guests onto the dancefloor and I remember looking around in that moment thinking how lucky we were to be surrounded by all of our friends and family, all dancing to our first song with us.” REAL WEDDINGS 29

Rachel Mallett of Kala Weddings, teamed up with Hello Dorking to give local engaged couples some Italian romance Images courtesy of Kala Weddings IN DORKING The inspiration behind La Dolce Vita in Dorking stemmed from the desire to bridge the gap between the dream of a destination wedding and the practicalities of modern life,” shares Rachel of Kala Weddings. “While many couples dream of marrying abroad, travel often presents significant limitations – from elderly relatives unable to fly to friends facing budget or time constraints. “We wanted to explore how we could achieve that same Mediterranean magic with better accessibility. As it turns out, Dorking is a premier wedding destination. From stunning hotels with pools nestled in the Surrey Hills to an incredible variety of bridal stores, local suppliers, and guest boutiques, everything we needed was right here.” With Rachel’s creative vision and the ingenuity of the collaborative suppliers, the team curated a Mediterranean atmosphere through vibrant colour schemes and design. “We focused on the bright yellows of lemons and the deep blues of traditional tiling found across Italy, Portugal, and Spain,” adds Rachel – who was also incredibly grateful to collaborate with Jo and Rosie from Hello Dorking. “They did much of the heavy lifting during the production planning process and were instrumental in bringing this vision to life and uniting such a talented group of local businesses.” La Dolce Vita “ 32

Crafting your wedding story Explore how photography, videography and creative content come together to capture, preserve and share the magic of your special day When it comes to life, the most memorable moments often pass in a flash and weddings are no exception. From fleeting glances to heartwarming exchanges, every second is filled with emotion and meaning. In the whirlwind of the day, it’s easy to miss those subtle, beautiful moments: a look of love, spontaneous dance moves, the sound of shared laughter, and everything in between. That’s why wedding photography is so essential, to ensure nothing is missed. A great photographer should seamlessly blend into the background, reading the room, anticipating emotions, and capturing every special memory as it unfolds. STYLES AND APPROACHES When it comes to finding the perfect wedding photographer, the first step is figuring out the style of photography that speaks to you. So, hop on socials, browse portfolios, and see what instantly catches your eye. To help you narrow it down, here are some popular styles: • Classic portraits If you’re after something timeless and elegant, classic portraits are the way to go. This style focuses on beautifully composed photos of the couple, bridal party, and family. Every detail, from lighting to backgrounds, is carefully planned to create polished, refined images that will never go out of style. • Documentary photography Prefer something more natural and unscripted? Documentary-style photography is all about capturing real, unposed moments as they unfold. Your photographer blends into the background, snapping candid shots of laughter, dancefloor moves and those “ugly smile” moments you’ll cherish forever. It’s storytelling through images, authentic and full of emotion. • Artistic and editorial Inspired by fashion and fine art photography, this style transforms your wedding gallery into a series of statement pieces. Think creative angles, dramatic lighting, and bold compositions that scream personality. Whether you’re after moody, dreamy, or innovative vibes, editorial photography delivers striking, magazine-worthy images. • Film photography revival They say trends always come back, and film photography is making a huge return! Loved for its soft grain, rich texture and nostalgic tones, film adds a romantic and timeless quality that digital sometimes can’t replicate. Many couples choose to mix film with digital for a unique, character-filled album. TIPS FOR COUPLES When it comes to planning your wedding photography, start by creating a mood board filled with images that inspire you. Sharing this with your photographer helps keep your vision clear and ensures you’re both on the same page. Remember, it’s great to have a plan, but don’t forget to give your photographer creative freedom to work their magic. They’re the experts for a reason and have captured dozens, if not hundreds, of weddings in all kinds of settings. Your photographer can also guide you on the ideal timing for couple portraits, especially during the coveted golden hour when the light is soft, warm and oh-so-magical. Ask your photographer to capture the little details that make your day uniquely yours like the rings, invitations, flowers, accessories, table styling, and all the thoughtful touches. These small snapshots help tell the full story of your wedding day. unsplash.com@mesutcicen PHOTOGRAPHY PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEOGRAPHY 39

While wedding photography captures a single, beautiful moment in time, wedding videography lets you relive the magic, complete with motion, sound and music that brings your day to life. There’s something truly special about watching your wedding unfold over again. From the moment you glide down the aisle and lock eyes with your partner, to the joyful confetti toss surrounded by cheering loved ones, every frame tells a story. You’ll hear the soft tremble in your voices during heartfelt speeches, feel the rush of emotion as you sway through your first dance, and smile at all the little moments you might have missed. Today’s films are more than just videos; they’re keepsakes, capturing not just how your wedding looked but how it felt. WEDDING VIDEOGRAPHY STYLES & TECHNIQUES When it comes to wedding videography, there are several styles and techniques to choose from that each offer a unique way to relive your special day. Here are some of the most popular options: • Cinematic films If you’ve ever dreamed of your wedding feeling like a movie, this style is for you. Cinematic films use carefully crafted shots, dramatic lighting and emotional music to create a heartfelt story that captures the day’s essence. The result is a moving, emotional and timeless. • Documentary style Much like documentary-style photography, this approach is all about authenticity. Your videographer becomes a fly on the wall, capturing every moment naturally as it unfolds, from getting ready in the morning to the final dance of the night. With minimal interference, it’s perfect for couples who want a real, unfiltered results. • Highlight reels Short, snappy and perfect for sharing, highlight reels condense your wedding into a three to five minute video that showcases the most memorable moments. From the vows and the confetti toss to the first dance, these reels are ideal for sending to loved ones or posting on social media while keeping your fulllength video private. • Live streaming For guests who can’t be there in person, whether due to distance, limited numbers, or other circumstances, live streaming lets them be a part of your day from anywhere in the world. With today’s technology, loved ones can watch you exchange vows, listen to speeches, and celebrate alongside you virtually. It’s a beautiful way to ensure no one misses out on the magic. SOUND MATTERS When it comes to wedding videography, sound is just as important as visuals. That’s why it’s essential to ask your videographer for examples of their past work to ensure they can deliver highquality audio as well as stunning visuals. We’re talking crystal-clear vows and speeches, captured using professional audio equipment so every heartfelt word is preserved. Beyond that, the ambient sounds, like the clinking of glasses, the laughter of guests and the music of your band will help transport you back to the moment every time you hit play. The soundtrack also plays a huge role in setting the tone of your wedding film. The right song can add an extra layer of emotion, perfectly complementing your story and enhancing the pacing of the video. Get this combination right and you’ll be left with a magical keepsake. WHAT TO CONSIDER Good communication with your videographer is key to ensuring your wedding day is captured beautifully. Share key time frames in advance, from the first look and ceremony to the speeches and first dance, so they can anticipate important moments and be in the perfect position to film them. Don’t forget to share any must-have shots. If possible, arrange a venue walkthrough with your videographer before the big day, especially if they haven’t filmed there before. This gives you both the chance to familiarise yourselves with the space, plan key shots, and assess lighting conditions for the best results. It’s also important to discuss turnaround times ahead of time. Find out when you can expect to receive teasers, highlight reels and your full-length film. Clarify what formats will be provided, whether that’s a USB, an online gallery, or both as well as the video resolution (4K vs HD) and whether raw footage is available if you’d like it. A little planning up front goes a long way in ensuring you receive a wedding film you’ll love and treasure forever. unsplash.com@jakobowens1 VIDEOGRAPHY 40
