Your Surrey Wedding - August/September 2025 (Issue 114)

Holly and Dieter, met in modern fashion on Tinder! “I was the first to message Dieter, and before I knew it we were chatting away until the early hours of the morning most days. We went for our first date a couple of weeks after talking and we hit it off straight away! It didn’t take long for me to realise he was the one – I guess love at first sight really does exist,” share Holly. Dieter proposed in the pub where the couple had their first date (The George, Hersham) on the exact table they were sat at in April ’24. “We had a short engagement and in August that year we booked the date and venue! It wasn’t a big grand proposal, but it was perfect for us, and we sat there and laughed about our first date and how nervous we were!” adds Holly. LOCATION It was love at first sight again, when the couple viewed Farnham House Hotel, “We were immediately attracted to the cosy, warm vibe inside,” shares Holly. From the beautiful fireplaces to the bright and airy reception room, it was an immediate yes for the pair. “It was the first venue we viewed and, after viewing a few more, we just knew we had to go back and set the date. We fell in love with all of the staff too; Mel and Hannah especially, but everyone was so friendly and welcoming, we knew we were in safe hands and that our wedding day would be organised by some truly amazing people.” The venue offered an al fresco option for the wedding, which the couple chose, getting married outside in the beautiful gardens under the gazebo, “it was the most magical ceremony. Every single corner of this hotel has character, it’s absolutely stunning!” adds Holly. SETTING THE SCENE Having a May wedding, Holly and Dieter decided to go for a spring theme, and a colour palette of pastel blues and peaches with splashes of white and ivory. “The colour theme was stunning and really complemented the beautiful gardens at the venue!” shares Holly. “The décor was simple and minimal, as the venue was so beautiful it really didn’t need much adding to it!” Taking herself as a bit of a craft-queen, Holly created much of the finer details herself which she thoroughly enjoyed. “It felt personal having so much input, and I was so happy to see it all come together. I kept the décor simple and clean, with pops of colour from the florals and adding lights around the venue. “The biggest bonus was using my mum and stepdad’s campervan, which looked stunning in the photos!” The nearlyweds enjoyed a menu tasting a few weeks 20
