Your Sussex Wedding - April/May 2022 (Issue 96)

We’ve been taking a look at the morning preparations in this issue’s shoots. It can be a fun and memorable part of the day spent with your inner circle, or even a time for quiet reflection. So think about devoting some planning time towards it, as well as talking to your photographer about capturing those all-important images. 51 www.sarahwenban.co.uk WIN! It’s such a special time of year and in 2022 we all get to appreciate it so much more given the last two we’ve spent locked up! This issue we’ve got the usual blend of wedspiration from real weddings and shoots, to expert advice and ideas including a look into the world of wedding transport. We’ve also got some oh-so chic ideas for fab finishing touches to complete the look of your day. In our own wedding world here at CMW towers, bride Melissa has been turning her attention to her best gals and we’ve now got our dresses, if not in our hands then on order. It was a bumpy ride, but thanks to Melissa’s unending patience, we got there. We’re now looking at the even more fun stuff such as accessories, shoes, hair and make-up, which has led myself, my fellow bridesmaids and the bride herself to ponder the matter of just whose job it is to foot the bill for the glam? This in no small part is due to the fact none of us seem able to get the lovely Melissa to take one single penny from us towards it. So, when Fragrance Direct told me they’d teamed up with wedding planner Hannah Rose to discuss just this matter, I was all ears! Thinking about the glam bill, Fragrance Direct asked Hannah whether it was nearlyweds’ responsibility to pay for everyone or just themselves? She answered unequivocally, “Definitely everyone. If they’ve asked for people to be part of their day, the majority of the time this will fall to the couple to pay. Otherwise, their loved ones may be put off joining the wedding party. Some bridesmaids and groomsmen might be happy to contribute, but it’s always encouraged that the couple plan this into their budget and offer to pay for the basics such as hair and make-up if they want them to have it done. The cost will vary depending on the hair stylist and make-up artist, but I’d advise to allocate a minimum of £150-£200 per person for anyone who isn’t the bride or groom.” So, there we have it. We shall immediately cease arguing with the bride and accept her kindness gracefully. I’ll leave you now to enjoy this issue and don’t forget if you’d like to see your own wedding day gracing the pages of Your Sussex Wedding, get in touch with us via www.your-sussex.wedding/get-involved Enjoy and keeeep planning!
