Your Sussex Wedding - August/September 2020 (Issue 86)

Sarah and Myles tied the knot at Southdowns Manor on 14 th September, 2019 Images courtesy of Stephen Duncan Photography M yles’ bad-boy reputation preceded him during his school years and Sarah had been warned to stay away. But, as she says, “Girls want what they shouldn’t have though, don’t they?” Nevertheless, she managed it all the way up until 2013, when their eyes met across a crowded bar on Worthing seafront. “One of Myles’ friends dared him to dance with me, and we were instantly attracted to one another, discovering a shared love of several bands from our teenage years. Plus, I couldn’t possibly stay away from those piercing blue eyes and cheeky smile,” Sarah explains. At the end of the night she confidently advised him to take her out on a date, and happily, he agreed. It didn’t take long after that to realise Myles’ days as a bad boy were behind him, as he’d grown up to be a total gentleman who treated her like a princess. Falling OR YOU The minute Myles told Sarah that he was going to plan something special for their five- year anniversary, she knew he was intending to propose! “I’m always the one to plan our trips so this was out of the ordinary, and my suspicious mind kicked into overdrive,” she explains. Sarah was delighted to discover they would be going to South Lodge, somewhere she’d been desperate to stay, and had bought a new dress just for the occasion. Soon after they arrived, and having been back to the car to retrieve the shoes he claimed to have forgotten, Myles told her that a kind member of staff had offered to show them around the grounds in a golf buggy before dinner. “He made it sound so casual and last minute that I really was none the wiser,” Sarah remembers. As the buggy pulled up to a romantic spot by the lake, she spotted a bottle of champagne with their names on it and realised this was the moment! Myles wasted no time in dropping to one knee and asking her to marry him. Sarah says, “The staff at South Lodge jumped at the chance to congratulate us and made us feel so special. It was the definition of perfect, even though my new dress wasn’t involved!” Join us, as we get the lowdown on this wonderful wedding day from the bride herself… REAL WEDDINGS 43 
