Your Sussex Wedding - August/September 2020 (Issue 86)

Our roundup of the county’s waterside and coastal venues Romantic REFLECTIONS THE GALLIVANT 01797 225 057 | www.thegallivant.co.uk Set behind the dunes and extraordinary sandy beach beyond sits The Gallivant. A relaxing beach-house hotel, its hosts chilled-out weddings, complete with sand between the toes, for those who want to escape the ordinary. Most weddings move from the hotel to the beach and back again, depending on what’s been agreed. There are 20 beautiful bedrooms, a sitting room with roaring log fire in the colder months, a book lined snug that you won’t want to leave, a dog-friendly bar that looks like it was dropped in from Hoxton, and a dining room that nods to the Hamptons. After last year’s million-pound renovation the hotel has never looked more beautiful. THE “I DOS” Vows are exchanged in the Garden Room alongside 80 of your nearest and dearest. Then, connected to the main part of the hotel you’ll find a secluded, decked terrace that provides a perfect place for a drinks reception when the weather is fine. It links directly to the dining room and can accommodate groups of 60 to 100. Alternatively, you have the option to host this part of the day amongst the dunes. CELEBRATE IN STYLE Receptions can take place in a variety of rooms depending on the size of your guest list. The Beach House marquee, a permanent, coastal-themed event space with solid wood floors can host up to 100 loved ones. More intimate weddings can be accommodated in a variety of private spaces within the main hotel. If you decide to wed at The Gallivant, you’ll be invited to visit for a menu tasting with head chef, Jamie Guy, and a wine tasting with the onsite sommelier. 22
