A girl’s best friend Diamonds Factory has opened a new store in Brighton offering a one-of-a-kind experience for customers looking to design their dream engagement rings and jewellery pieces with expert guidance and ethical craftsmanship. Discover the new Diamonds Factory at 26B North St, Brighton and Hove, Brighton BN1 1EB Going to THE CHAPEL Built in 1926, Bailiffscourt was once the summer home of the Guiness family’s Lord and Lady Moyne. For fans of Netflix’s House of Guiness, it may interest you to know that Lord Moyne, Walter Guiness, was the third son of Edward Guiness (portrayed by Louis Partridge in the series). It’s easy to mistake the property for medieval, as despite being built in the early 20th century, it is in fact made up of medieval components brought together from all over the country. The site’s 13th century chapel is the only entirely original structure from the period. During the Guiness’ ownership the chapel was restored to its former glory, given its importance as the origin of the main property’s name, which stems from the granting of the lands around the house to the Abbey of Seez (in Normandy) in the 12th century. The Abbey built the chapel we see today in the 13th century and sent an overseer, or bailiff, to ensure its English possessions were properly managed. The home of this ecclesiastical financial administrator became known as The Bailiff’s Court. Our editor Kelly went along to see the chapel during an open day, since this impressive space has recently been licensed for wedding ceremonies. As of 1st June 2026, the chapel will be able to host “I dos” with up to 65 guests, with an ideal configuration of 40 seated and 25 standing, or 40 total, who’ll make their way to the music room for post-vow dining. As the formerly religious site is deconsecrated, you’re welcome to decorate it as you wish.
