Your Sussex Wedding - August/September 2025 (Issue 116)

Our palette included a mix of colours. We incorporated lots of florals into our stationery, while the runners were in our accent sage green hue. I think our mainly neutral palette was timeless and cohesive. There was a three-hour gap between our ceremony and reception, so it allowed guests who weren’t local to explore the area. We worried the gap would be excessive, but some went home to freshen up or slip into something more comfortable for the evening, while others went to the beach for an ice cream or popped into The Ivy for a drink to make the most of their formal outfits! We felt it was important for our personalities to shine through in our wedding day choices. Due to my background in journalism, I created wedding newspapers. They included behind-the-scenes photos from the wedding preparations, as well as puzzles, and a memorial page for loved ones we’ve lost. I asked my bridesmaids to wear any dress of their choosing as long as it was sage green. I never wanted my closest friends to feel they had to wear a style or material they weren’t comfortable in and this meant they could express their own style while still looking cohesive. The groomsmen wore trousers and shirts to match the groom and decided not to ask them to wear a blazer. We knew it was going to be a hot day and it was an unnecessary expense. This also allowed Ben to stand out from the rest of his party. They all looked smart with polished brown shoes and sage green ties. 31 REAL WEDDINGS
