The early attraction bloomed into a romance and Harry proposed in 2022. While the proposal itself might not have been a surprise, the time and place definitely were. He’d made no secret of his intentions, quite openly asking Megan’s family to try out various ring sizes. When nine months passed without anything happening though, Megan had completely forgotten about these shenanigans by the time the couple and their daughter went for a day out together to Hever Castle that summer. They all took a rowing boat out onto the lake and when they reached the middle Harry got down on one (slightly wobbly) knee and said to Megan: “We might not be able to get married in a castle, but will you marry me?” Super-surprised, she of course agreed immediately. “We wanted a traditional venue in Sussex, where we live,” Megan shares. “After a day of failed viewings at a couple of locations that were disappointing, we saw that Highley Manor was hosting a wedding fair and decided on a whim to go along that evening with no expectations.” They were drawn to the surrounding countryside views and inside they found everything they’d hoped for – spacious rooms, neutral décor and a blank canvas they could put their own stamp on. So, the date was set for 14th August 2023. Read on as we get the lowdown on W-day from the bride herself… 43 REAL WEDDINGS
