30 LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION You won’t want to miss Natasha and Cameron’s engagement story. It was definitely one of a kind! Spring is all about new life with trees blossoming, daffodils flowering and young wildlife coming into the world. So, it’s a fitting time of year for a wedding as two people who’ve found love prepare to begin their own new life together. As we emerge from the long winter months, springtime nuptials make the perfect celebration, bringing everyone out of hiding! Everything about this time of year just feels joyous from the light, fresh flavours in food, to the oh-so beautiful flower varieties that come into bloom plus the lighter nights and warmer weather. When anyone tries to tell me that pastel palettes are out for weddings, I’m afraid I have to stick my fingers in my ears – la, la, la! Wildflower-inspired themes have made their way into my heart over the last couple of years and I for one refuse to see them fall out of fashion! Vibrant hues are all very well and good in any other season, but what could be more complementary in the spring than a glorious garden-inspired palette of pink, Peach Fuzz, lavender, sage and lemon? Be still my beating heart! There’s a myriad of ways to bring these shades bang up to date: just picture an ombre of fresh yellows with zingy citrus, lemon and mustard complete with Mediterranean vibes. Sunny and oh-so stylish. Your wedding’s fun finishing touches are a great way to show off your perfect palette even further, and that’s just what we’re discussing this issue from page 53. Think colourful delicate macaron favours or cake table décor. Meanwhile, our experts have sustainability sussed out from page 61 and are ready to clue you in on ensuring your wedding doesn’t quite literally cost the earth. So, as ever, enjoy and keeeep planning! Kelly x Kelly Andrews, editor A new life ISSN 1750-3477 Your Sussex Wedding is solely owned, published and designed by Ellis Media and Events Ltd. GOING FOR GREEN Restaurant Interlude at historical Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens has been awarded a Michelin Green Star, the first restaurant in West Sussex to receive this accolade. It recognises Interlude’s outstanding sustainable practices and ethically-sourced seasonal cuisine crafted by executive chef Jean Delport. The Michelin Star award organisers commented, “It’s quite an achievement to hold both a Michelin Star and a Michelin Green Star, but that’s exactly what the team at Interlude have managed thanks to their continued efforts towards sustainable gastronomy. “The restaurant sits within the 240-acre Leonardslee Gardens, from which a sizeable chunk of the kitchen’s produce is sourced – including honey from their seven beehives and sap from their birch trees. These ingredients are crafted into creative dishes on a singular, regularly changing menu, designed to reflect the estate and the seasons, as well as to reduce food waste. Vines have been planted too and an orchard is on the way next.” To find out more about hosting your wedding at Interlude and having your wedding breakfast catered by the Michelin-award-winning team, check out www.leonardsleegardens.co.uk/weddings A WELCOME RETURN Here at Your Sussex Wedding, we’re delighted to report that The Dome in Worthing has now reopened its doors and is taking wedding bookings for its event space upstairs! Returning from their new home in Canada to tie the knot surrounded by loved ones, Natasha and Cameron’s big day was a celebration of all things British Images courtesy of Sarah Williams Photography Come fly with me 30

Natasha and Cameron met on the number 12 Arriva bus to school when they were just 12 years old. Cameron sat behind Natasha but was too scared to speak to her as she was in the year above him. He’d go home and tell his mum all about this beautiful long-haired red head from the bus though, and eventually, thanks to his mum’s advice, he did pluck up the courage to sit next to her and ask her out. They remained extremely close throughout their teenage years, even living together at university. After graduation, Natasha moved to Canada and Cameron relocated to Germany but they kept their relationship going long-distance for five years until the pandemic hit in 2020. A week before lockdown, Cameron joined Natasha in Canada full time. Going from long-distance to being in each other’s pockets 24/7 could have been a challenge for many, but their relationship thrived, and Cameron proposed in Cancun, Mexico in 2021. The story doesn’t end there though, as there’s much more to this proposal that meets the eye! The two had been asked to take part in a short documentary focusing on people who’d been separated from their families due to Covid – at this point Natasha hadn’t seen her mum for two-and-ahalf years. The twist in the tale, was that the crew were actually filming a Christmas miracles promo for Canadian airline WestJet, and surprised our couple with an all-expenses paid trip to Cancun! Cameron wisely saw the opportunity here and quickly started plotting his proposal with the film crew. Indeed, WestJet had even more surprises in store, with the production crew following them on the trip, and Natasha was joyfully reunited with her mum on the rooftop terrace of their accommodation. Cameron was able to make good use of the distraction to put the finishing touches to his plan with the crew, and having later rejoined the family to film a dinner scene on the roof, the director gave Cameron his cue: “Ok, we’re done with main filming. Enjoy your dinner.” With that, the groom-to-be got up from the table and popped the question. Of course, Natasha was blown away and accepted immediately. With family back home in Sussex, it was important to the couple to return to the UK where they met and fell in love to tie the knot and celebrate with loved ones. “We wanted to create a real English country garden feel for our guests from overseas, so we focused on venues that could deliver this vision,” Natasha explains. When they found Wadhurst Castle it ticked all the boxes – after all what could be more quintessentially British than a castle? Natasha continues, “What really attracted us was the staff, they were so friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming, and played an enormous role in our planning.” If the proposal is anything to go by, we couldn’t wait to find out more about the big day… LOOKING THE PART The beautiful bride wore Blisse by Milla Nova, which she customised by having off-the-shoulder sleeves added. “It was simple, elegant, hopefully timeless, and most importantly had pockets!” she says. “I was looking for something to fit the venue and theme, but the dress I chose wasn’t at all what I thought I wanted!” An understated gown meant Natasha could really elevate it with her accessories and truly make it her own. She opted for a white porcelain headband made with trillium flowers, which not only reflected the theme but also her home, since trillium are native to Ontario. Natasha’s birthstone is pearl, so she completed her look with a pearl bracelet and pearl drop earrings. Finally, to help her keep warm on that chilly autumn day she wore a stole in the Ferguson tartan. Cameron went for a traditional Scottish look with the full kilt and argyle jacket. While his kilt bore the modern Ferguson pattern, his grandpa’s featured the ancient tartan version. Natasha had gifted him cufflinks on the Scan to view video Pssst… We absolutely loved watching the resulting WestJet promo knowing what went on behind the scenes! You can enjoy it too by clicking the play button or scanning the QR code. 31 REAL WEDDING
