Your Sussex Wedding - October/November 2023 (Issue 105)

YOU DO YOU Roxy, a humanist wedding celebrant from Roxy Celebrates Love (www.roxycelebrateslove.com), says: With a celebrant wedding, your ceremony is guaranteed to be completely personalised to reflect you as a couple. Unlike a formulaic registrar service by someone you meet minutes before walking down the aisle, your celebrant will spend time getting to know you both so that your ceremony will tell your love story. With the boring formal elements such as the legalities removed, there’s so much space to truly celebrate you, both as a couple and as individuals. More often than not, the ceremony is seen as the boring, official bit before the fun actually begins. If you want a ceremony brimming with joy, love, tears and personality, and something all of your guests will be talking about afterwards (for all the right reasons), a celebrant ceremony could be the option for you. The feedback I often get is that the ceremony was one of the best parts of the day and unlike anything guests had seen before. It’s a chance to bring people into your lives and tell your story in a truly unique way that sets the tone for the party that follows. www.emilysteve.com www.chrisblackledgephotography.co.uk SAY “CHEESE!” Your Sussex Wedding editor Kelly Andrews says: Using photos throughout your day is a wonderful way to tell your story and personalise your celebrations. There are so many cool and quirky ways you can incorporate them too, for example, did you know you could have a photo printed onto the lining of the groom’s and fathers’ ties? A memory wall is popular with many couples. Utilise a beautiful backdrop or wooden pallet for more rustic vibes to create a timeline of your relationship through snaps; or if you share a mutual love of travelling, what about a world map with pics of the two of you captured in that location pinned to it? Instead of a guestbook, it’s a great idea to get a large mounted print of your favourite engagement shoot image and have guests sign that. This way it can later be framed and hung in your home as a reminder of your best day ever! A lovely trend we’re seeing at the moment is couples incorporating photos in their table names. Pick a meaningful date, name your table after it and label the table with a relevant piccy of the two of you. Alternatively, I love the idea of choosing several ages and including baby and childhood photos of each of the two of you. Super-cute! SAY IT WITH FLOWERS Penny Evison from Hellbore & Rose Floral Design (www.helleboreandrose.co.uk) says: For hundreds of years, flowers have been beautifully sourced to send and portray unspoken messages of the heart. Designed by nature, their secret language attracts us to their fleeting delicacy and fragrant aroma. Taking time to capture the floral details is how we flourish when it comes to bringing your love story to life. So, we take our time, breathe in and build together a natural portfolio of flowers that reflects your love, romance and personalities, to ensure that when your wedding day arrives, the floral beauty is how you envision it to be. We love to blend nature’s beautiful combinations of flora and foliage, structure and scent. Whether in soft tones, vibrant colour or a fusion of both, every creative design is thoughtfully considered to reflect your personalities. Enhancing and entwining everything that’s unique to your relationship matters when creating the floral designs for the day you’re imagining. www.shotbybek.com 58
