Your South Wales Wedding - Page number 24 - September/October 2021 (Issue 81)

We had wanted to move to Usk for a while, and the day after our engagement, we visited and wandered up to Usk Castle. It’s a hidden gem and has such a magical feel. We met Rosie, and told her we’d just got engaged, so she took us into the private gardens and showed us the wedding brochure. We couldn’t believe that you could get married there, we love castles and have been all over Wales visiting them. It also turned out that we moved right around the corner, so when our initial plans fell through due to COVID-19, our quests wandered back to ours for a socially distanced reception. For the centrepieces, we chose wooden tree slices, jars, pine cones and tea lights. Our love for animals was forced upon our guests as we opted for a vegan caterer. Vegan To You were fantastic and helped provide different options due to the COVID-19 restrictions. The food was so fresh and packed full of flavour. They tailored the menu to suit our guests and then left us with a cold buffet for the evening. There wasn’t any left to waste. Ollie and I hired furniture from Valley Furniture Hire. We ordered rustic love letters, which looked amazing at the top of our garden, and big barrels for us to decorate along with catering tables, benches and rattan furniture. The Flower Shed did an amazing job with the bouquets and all the arrangements. Our shed looked stunning, and everybody loved the flowers. The cake was made by my good friend Emily from Dennison Bakes. It was huge and tasted superb! We decorated it with figurines and blooms from The Flower Shed. 24
