FLOWERS 43 INSPIRATION Intimate wedding inspiration A s a result of COVID-19, couples are now looking to have intimate nuptials, so to help you create the perfect celebration, we’ve rounded up some of the region's best suppliers and asked for their top tips on creating a fabulous wedding with a small guest list. MEET CLAIRE FROM HOOKEDIN COTTON 07872 970 968 | www.hookedincotton.co.uk If you’re busy planning an intimate wedding, do not let it stop you from including beautiful macramé bohemian style décor. Arrange a workshop and spend some time with your mum and bridesmaids learning how to create your favours. Make sure you give yourself a few weeks if you want to create chair backs or vase wraps. Check your suppliers are sustainable and have a GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certificate to ensure you’re being kind to the planet. Try making favours with a dual purpose, so they have a longer lifespan, but most importantly, take your time and have fun adding personality into your day. I was involved with two intimate weddings, one was on a dreamy farm with a gourmet chef preparing a beautiful banquet, and the other was on a remote beach. Both couples got to spend time with every person without rushing, and it was lovely to witness the relationship between them. Each guest left with a handmade gift and thank you note from the couple. One of the brides a nd her bridesmaids spent time k notting chair backs designed t o later tie to driftwood as wall h angings which she was going t o gift to special friends at their b ig beach celebration a few w eeks later. JUST THE TWO OF US MEET DJ ALAN MATTHEWS FROM CARDIFF WEDDING DISCO 07800 845 014 | www.cardiffweddingdisco.co.uk With many years of experience under my belt, I can safely say that smaller weddings are extra special. It reduces the amount of stress on everyone involved, saves money and having your closest friends and family around you creates an amazing atmosphere. I was a guest at my sister-in-law’s wedding in Gretna Green, where there were only 15 people, and I can honestly say it was one of the best weddings I’ve been to. When booking a DJ, make sure they’re local to you and not based hundreds of miles away. Check that their feedback is up-to-date. Some suppliers have positive comments on their websites with no dates, so do your research. Book your supplier as early as possible. We’re now dealing with couples on their third cancellation date, so eventually, it’s all going to catch up, and everyone will already be booked up. Your entertainer should be completely understanding and cooperative should you need to postpone. If you need to move your date, contact all your vendors and throw some dates around and see what comes out best between them. Alternatively, if you need to cancel, all deposits/monies paid should be 100 per cent refundable, if they cannot promise this, then look elsewhere! www.alsp hotography.co.uk
